Pay around $105,000 a year usually means weeks out or overnight shifts. This route starts between 10 AM and 2 PM, runs Thursday to Monday and averages $2,019 a week. Semi-local CDL A work out of Central New Jersey.

Run the Numbers

• Weekly Average: $2,019, based on what drivers on this account earned over the last 6 to 12 months
• Miles: about 2,350 per week at $0.76 to $0.78 per mile, or $1,786 to $1,833 before anything else
• Drop and Hook: $31 to $33 per stop
• Live Load or Unload: $40 per load
• Detention: $40 per hour after the first 2 hours
• Attendance Bonus: $100 every week
• Bridge Pay: $50
• Holiday Pay: $160 per day
• Training Days: $200 per day as a new hire
• Sign-On Bonus: $5,000, first payment after your first dispatch (eligibility terms apply)

Your Week

• Days: Thursday to Monday, with Tuesday and Wednesday off
• Start Time: between 10 AM and 2 PM
• Home Time: expect to get home 2 to 3 times during the work week
• Busy Season: routes can shift between October and January
• Holidays: rotating 6th days around Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and holidays off are not assured on this 24/7 account

Your Truck and Freight

• Automatic sleeper assigned to you, with a spare only when yours is down
• Loaded dry van or reefer trailers picked up at customer distribution centers
• Deliveries to retail stores in NJ, NY, CT, MA, NH and VT, no New York City
• No touch: drop and hook, or the store handles the live unload
• Third party backhauls on the return, sometimes live load
• Intermodal or nearby account loads when volume is light, paid at the same rates
• Every day starts and ends at our East Brunswick yard

First Two Weeks

• Half day onboarding, then 8 days of local account training
• Plan to drive your own vehicle to both

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL and at least 21 years old
• Verifiable tractor-trailer experience: 3 months in the last 6 with one carrier, 6 months in the last 12, or 12 months in the last 5 years
• Reliable personal transportation
• No careless or reckless driving and no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
• No major preventable accidents in 3 years and no DUI/DWI in 5 years
• Pass hair and urine drug testing
