As one of the nation's largest nonprofit Catholic healthcare organizations, CommonSpirit Health delivers more than 20 million patient encounters annually through more than 2,300 clinics, care sites and 158 hospital-based locations, in addition to its home-based services and virtual care offerings.As our Direct Support Professional Lead, you will empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, high-quality lives through direct care and dedicated support.Every day you will oversee the seamless operation of your assigned department, acting as a department lead to ensure all essential duties are completed across shifts. You will directly support residents in achieving their personal goals and dreams, and actively facilitate their engagement and participation within the community.To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong leadership skills, a compassionate and person-centered approach, and a commitment to fostering independence and inclusion for the individuals you support.LEARNING ABOUT THE PERSON SUPPORTEDBuilds a positive rapport with people by learning their wants, needs, and desiresLearns about the person's spirituality, social history and life experiences through education and a variety of community experiencesUses the person's plan, Personal Outcome Measures information, and other assessments to learn about each person's goals and dreams. Supports each person to direct their own services, achieve their goals and dreams, and remove barriers that hinder the accomplishment of the person's goals and dreamsSPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIESEnsures each person within the department has all of his/her basic assurances metAttends program training with the QIDP and accurately implements all OSP/PCP programs, learning objectives, and supports. Attends team meetings and completes assessments as requestedDocuments in an accurate and timely manner in all applicable records, charts and files of people supportedINTEGRATION AND COMMUNITY SUPPORTLearns about people's vocational, community and social interests through experience and exposureAssists people to remain connected to their natural supports (family, close friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.)Supports people to be active members of the community (i.e., employment, volunteer work, belonging to clubs/organizations, participating in church activities, etc.) by emphasizing choices and optionsMaintains a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and has access to a vehicleHEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE PERSON SUPPORTEDLearns about the best possible health needs (including physical and mental health) for the person you are supporting, including knowledge of medications taken by the person and the effects of the medicationsSupports people to become involved in their personal health needs, accompanies people to medical appointments, provides support during medical procedures, and completes follow-up recommendationsAdministers medications and completes treatments according to the Medication Administration RecordMaintains current First Aid and CPR certification.Assists and supports people to have a safe and clean environment in which to live and workLearns about nutritional and healthy lifestyle recommendations through meal planning and preparationSupports people to look their best by providing assistance in areas of hygiene, grooming, and attirePROVIDES OVERSIGHT TO THE DEPARTMENTServes as a role model and mentor for all DSPs in the department.Trains staff and completes observations to ensure the highest quality of services are being providedCoaches in the moment, documents performance in the employee log and reports concerns to the managerMonitors staffing schedules and ensures active supports are providedFINANCIAL MANAGEMENT OF DEPARTMENTAssures department's petty cash and procurement (P) card are used appropriatelyAssists with financial expenditures/budgets for people supported. This includes cash, checks, debit cards, and EBT cards. Assists people supported to pay their bills and keep an accurate record on all financial spending ledgersAssists people supported to learn about his/her personal finances including money management and budgetingJob RequirementsRequiredHigh School or equivalent diplomaDriver's License: ND, upon hire andAuto Insurance, upon hirePreferredOne year of work experience
