Mission and Operations Support Specialist
Drug Enforcement Administration
Summary Position located in the DEA, Tampa Field Division and Jacksonville District Office. The primary purpose is to support the Outlying Office (OO) for General Services Unit (GSU) and Finance and Procurement Unit (FPU) level Business Operations Section (BOS) activities, including administrative support, human‑resource liaison, fleet and property management, security, inspections, logistics, and records management. Duties Perform a wide range of administrative support functions for the OO and Division related to GSU and FPU level BOS activities. Administer diverse tasks and programs that directly support the law‑enforcement mission of the OO. Provide administrative and operational functions related to human‑resource liaison, personal property management, and personnel or physical security. Conduct complex and unique law‑enforcement searches and queries. Gather and analyze data to identify inaccuracies. Prepare administrative documents such as reports, briefings, and correspondence. Provide authoritative guidance to an organization on administrative matters. Requirements U.S. citizenship is required. Employment is subject to successful completion of a background investigation and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Incumbent is subject to random drug testing. Must pass the E‑Verify employment verification check. Male applicants born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service. Incumbent must maintain required certifications and access to necessary systems. GS‑07 Qualifications Applicants must meet one of the following: Have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑05, including paid, unpaid, and volunteer experience. Alternatively, have completed one full academic year of graduate‑level education in a relevant field. Alternatively, achieve Superior Academic Achievement (upper third of class, GPA ≥3.0, or award membership in an approved honor society). Alternatively, combine education and experience to reach a 100% fulfillment of required equivalent months and graduate semester hours. Qualifying experience must demonstrate: (1) administrative support for a group related to human‑resource liaison and security; (2) routine law‑enforcement searches and queries; (3) data gathering and analysis; (4) preparation of reports and correspondence. GS‑09 Qualifications Applicants must meet one of the following: Have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑07, including paid, unpaid, and volunteer work. Alternatively, have a master’s or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressive graduate education. Alternatively, combine education and experience to reach a 100% fulfillment based on months of experience and graduate semester hours beyond the first year. Qualifying experience must demonstrate: (1) administrative support for an office related to human‑resource liaison and security; (2) complex law‑enforcement searches and queries; (3) data gathering and analysis; (4) preparation of reports, briefings, and correspondence; (5) authoritative guidance on administrative matters. Time‑in‑Grade Requirement Applicants must meet time‑in‑grade and time‑after‑competitive‑appointment requirements by the closing date. Political Appointee Considerations Applicants who are current or former political appointees (Schedule A, Schedule C, Non‑career SES, or Presidential Appointee within the last five years) must disclose this information.
