Job Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients. The Clinic RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other health team members in an outpatient clinic setting. Clinic RNs are pivotal members of the care delivery team headed by the physician. Scope of Performance Performs general nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures. Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality. Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition. Provides patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations. Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response. Consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent or resolve problems or concerns. Educates patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions. Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices. Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management. Additional Information Assist with provider results, support lactation consultations, provide wound care services. Preferred Qualifications RN experience preferred. IBCLC certification preferred and/or Wound care certification preferred. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current/valid Registered Nurse license from the state licensing board. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. One (1) year related experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred). Other Job Requirements Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and functions; and community resources. Understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures. Effective communication with staff and patients. Sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations. Positive, caring attitude toward patients. Strong work ethic and high level of professionalism. Critical thinking skills within scope of practice and population health management. Physical ability to see, read labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Interacts verbally with patients, providers, and visitors, requiring rapid comprehension of spoken information and alarms. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex equipment, frequent computer use, typing, medication preparation. Ability to lift and carry items up to heavy weights, bend, and transfer patients. Capacity to walk, assist with transporting/ambulating patients, push/pull gurneys and equipment. Stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
