Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Open Heart Nurse located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This position involves supporting a high-volume cardiac surgical team in a Level III Trauma Center with Magnet Designation and a comprehensive stroke program. The role requires candidates to bring their nursing license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Location: Milwaukee, WI
• Schedule: Days shift; 8 hours per day; minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: RN license; BLS certification; 0 years of experience; Candidates must be located in or willing to work in Milwaukee, WI
• Specialty: Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH)
• Experience: 2 years in RN, OR Technologist (ORT), or Surgical Assist roles; 1 year in Anesthesia Technology
• Preferred Qualifications: CST certification for Surgical Assist role
• Certifications: BLS required for all roles
• Skills required: Strong CVOR background; ability to work independently with minimal guidance in cardiac and thoracic cases such as CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic procedures, generator exchanges, lead extractions, heart transplants, Fem-Pop bypass; ability to operate blood gas analyzers, TEE, ultrasound machines for Anesthesia Tech role
• Support on the Unit: Department supervisor and manager, team lead without case assignment, anesthesia available 24/7, surgical assistant lead for instrumentation, house supervisor available 24/7, small weekend staff with shared supervisor, and support staff including Anticipated equipment and systems (Epic EMR, Alaris, Pyxis, DaVinci XI)
• Orientation: 2 weeks of orientation
• On Call and Weekend Support: Once per month weekend call (Sat/Sun 0700-0700), weekly shift-end call (response within 30 minutes); holidays on-call as needed; on-call expectations include up to 7 days off with approval for additional days; fatigue policy limiting weekly work hours to 60 hours or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• Float: Anesthesia Tech will float between core areas; no float required for the RN position
• Additional notes: Scrub color provided; parking is free; staff on-site amenities include cafeteria and Starbucks; documentation of pain levels is required for patient care
