Senior Field Service TechnicianWe're looking for Senior Field Service Technicians with strong electrical expertise and leadership experience to support critical energy infrastructure projects across the U.S. In this senior-level field role, you'll lead testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting efforts across a wide range of electrical systems and components, ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate execution in the field. You'll be working hands-on with low, medium, and high voltage equipment (480V–600kV) at power plants, substations, and industrial facilities, while mentoring junior technicians and leading project crews.What You'll Do:Lead advanced testing, commissioning, and maintenance on LV–HV equipment (480V–600kV)Perform diagnostics using Doble, TTR, Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, DC Hi-Pot, and resistance test equipmentTest and verify electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based protective relaysDevelop test plans and execute commissioning procedures for new or upgraded systemsSupervise field crews, assign tasks, and ensure safety, quality, and complianceComplete reports, test results, and job documentation using Power DB and other platformsInterface directly with customers to provide updates, gather requirements, and ensure satisfactionEnforce safety practices, LOTO protocols, and PPE usage on job sitesMaintain tools, test equipment, and company vehicles in safe working conditionsMentor and train junior field techniciansTroubleshoot and resolve field issues independently and on-siteSupport emergency response and planned shutdown/start-up projectsFollow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areasThe Experience We're Looking For:7–10+ years of hands-on experience in the power industry, including P&C systems and field commissioningStrong knowledge of substation equipment, MV/HV breakers, and electrical system troubleshootingProficient with Power DB, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and TeamsFamiliar with OSHA, NETA standards, and electrical safety proceduresPrior experience leading crews and mentoring field techniciansAbility to develop and execute test plans for complex upgrades and installationsComfortable managing shifting priorities and working with minimal supervisionAdditional Requirements:Willingness to travel 50% across the continental U.S.High school diploma or GED requiredValid driver's licenseMust pass a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screeningLegally authorized to work in the United StatesAvailable for extended and irregular hours as neededAble to work outdoors in all weather, at heights (100+ ft), in confined spaces, and near high-voltage equipment and heavy machineryPhysically capable of lifting 50+ lbs. and sustaining extended physical activityRequires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environmentsBonus Points for:Completion of a trade school program, technical college, associate degree, or skilled trade certificationPrior experience working in power plants, utilities, or heavy industrial environmentsFamiliarity with relay settings development or advanced system protection analysisNETA Level III certification preferred: journeyman or equivalent acceptedAdditional safety certifications or OSHA 30A TWIC cardSupervisory experience on complex commissioning projectsWhy Join RMS Energy:Competitive Compensation – Overtime potential and merit-based raisesFull Benefits – Medical, dental, and vision coverage fully paid for employees, starting the month after hireSteady Employment & Career Growth – Be part of a fast-growing company with promotion potential401(k) with Company Match – Traditional & Roth options + free investment guidanceTop-Tier Equipment – Provided to support you in the fieldCompensated Travel Time plus Per Diem – Earn while seeing new placesEducation Support – Paid training, certifications, and industry membershipsGenerous PTO – Paid vacation, holidays, and sick leaveEmployee Assistance Program – Legal, financial, and mental wellness supportWant to be part of something meaningful?
