Job Summary: Owns field execution capability across all active projects. The General Superintendent is accountable for how the company builds work: the standard of craft supervision, the allocation of craft labor and equipment across projects, constructability input during estimating, and the field safety culture. Where the Senior Project Manager owns the portfolio's money, the General Superintendent owns the portfolio's ability to physically build it. Essential Job Responsibilities: Resource Allocation Own craft manpower allocation across projects: who goes where, when, and in what sequence. Own equipment fleet allocation, rental decisions and inter-project equipment moves. Give the affected Project Manager a minimum of five working days' notice before removing crew or equipment from a project; obtain Senior Project Manager approval where a milestone date is affected. Maintain the forward manpower forecast against awarded and probable work. Field Leadership & Development Select, assign, develop and evaluate Superintendents; own succession from Foreman to Superintendent. Own craft hiring, transfer and reduction-in-force decisions in coordination with the Superintendents. Set and enforce the standard for daily planning, crew-level supervision and field documentation. Coach on performance problems before they become project problems. Means, Methods & Constructability Own the company's standards for means and methods; approve non-standard, high-risk or first-of-a-kind methods. Provide constructability review during estimating and preconstruction — sequencing, access, laydown, crane and lift planning, temporary works. Own critical lift plans, temporary structure design coordination, and high-consequence work planning. Review and approve each project's execution plan from a field feasibility standpoint before mobilization. On projects spanning two or more service lines, designate one Project Superintendent accountable for cross-discipline sequencing; discipline Superintendents and lead Foremen report to that person. Safety Culture Accountable for the field safety culture across projects; visible in the field on a defined cadence. Own the standard for pre-task planning quality and enforce it through Superintendents. Lead or co-lead serious incident investigations and drive corrective actions across all projects, not just the one where it happened. Authority and Decision Rights Commitments up to $25,000 for equipment, rentals and field resources. Sole authority over craft manpower and equipment allocation between projects. Approves craft hiring, transfer, discipline and termination. Approves non-standard means and methods and critical lift plans. Authority to remove a Superintendent or Foreman from a project. Unlimited stop-work authority. Minimum Qualifications: Experience, Education and Competency 15+ years in construction with 7+ as a Superintendent on industrial or mining projects; craft background strongly preferred. Proven ability to run multiple concurrent projects through subordinate Superintendents. Deep command of all six service lines — mechanical, structural, civil, concrete, piping and electrical — and of mine-site logistics. Approves non-standard means and methods in every line. MSHA Part 46/48; valid 5000-23; OSHA 30; competent person designations for excavation, fall protection, confined space. Qualified rigger/signal person; crane and critical lift planning experience. Credible with both craft and client leadership — able to hold a standard and hold a room. Required Site Credentials MSHA Part 46/48 training as applicable to the site, with a valid 5000-23 certificate. Company and client contractor orientation, and site-specific training, completed before site access. Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record where site or company driving is required. Ability to pass pre-employment and site-required screening, including fit-for-duty where applicable. Required: Provide guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members. logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail. Highly self-motivated and directed. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure. Strong customer service orientation. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
