About Bonsai Building Services
Bonsai Building Services, LLC is seeking experienced low-voltage security technicians who can perform commercial installation work with limited supervision. Our projects include access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, fiber optics, structured cabling, cable pathways, and integrated security systems in government facilities, data centers, secure sites, and other mission-critical environments. We are looking for technicians who want a long-term career path and take pride in clean, documented, professional work.

What We Expect
This role is for a technician who can do more than pull cable. Bonsai expects Technician II team members to understand drawings, perform clean terminations, troubleshoot issues, coordinate with other trades, and help keep the work moving safely and professionally.

·        Show up prepared, work safely, and maintain steady production.
·        Read drawings, device schedules, wiring diagrams, and project requirements before starting work.
·        Produce clean cable routing, terminations, labels, device installation, and documentation.
·        Troubleshoot field issues and communicate obstacles early.
·        Coordinate professionally with leads, supervisors, project managers, general contractors, electricians, and other trades.
·        Support less-experienced technicians when appropriate.
·        Protect confidential information and follow secure-site procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities
·        Install low-voltage security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, fiber optics, structured cabling, and integrated security systems.
·        Install conduit, cable pathways, junction boxes, equipment enclosures, and support infrastructure.
·        Pull, route, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber low-voltage cabling.
·        Install card readers, keypads, door contacts, motion detectors, alarm devices, cameras, control panels, and associated hardware.
·        Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, wiring diagrams, device schedules, and construction documents.
·        Perform system testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, startup support, and punch-list work.
·        Maintain accurate redline drawings, test results, material tracking, and installation records.
·        Coordinate work with general contractors, electricians, project managers, and other trades.
·        Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and remove installation debris daily.
·        Protect confidential and sensitive customer information.

Required Qualifications
·        High school diploma or GED equivalent.
·        Relevant commercial low-voltage, structured cabling, access control, security systems, fiber optic, or related technology experience.
·        Ability to work independently or with limited supervision while meeting safety, quality, and schedule expectations.
·        Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams, and installation documents.
·        Ability to terminate, label, test, troubleshoot, and document low-voltage cabling and security devices.
·        Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to safely use tools, ladders, lifts, and testing equipment.
·        Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
·        Must be a U.S. citizen, legally authorized to work in the United States, pass background screening, and obtain secure-site access credentials.

Helpful Qualifications
·        Experience with access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, fiber optics, structured cabling, and integrated security systems.
·        Experience working in government facilities, data centers, secure sites, or mission-critical environments.
·        Experience installing EMT, rigid conduit, cable tray, sleeves, J-hooks, and other pathway systems.
·        Fiber optic termination, testing, labeling, or certification experience.
·        OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
·        Manufacturer certifications related to access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, or integrated security systems.
·        Experience mentoring helpers or Technician I team members.
