JOB TITLE: IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN DEPARTMENT: LANDSCAPE MAINTENANC POSITION SUMMARY The primary role of the Irrigation Technician is to maintain and repair existing irrigation and to install new irrigation. The Technician manages, directs, and exceeds assigned field jobs and provides support to Crew Leaders and Production Managers while maintaining the highest efficiency, safety, and production standards. EXPERIENCE & TRAINING Two years of experience related to irrigation systems. Valid Class “C” California Driver’s License with a safe driving record. Ability to perform multiple tasks, meet critical deadlines, and possess technical knowledge of commercial and landscape maintenance practices. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English and Spanish. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS A. Performs job functions timely and efficiently. Uphold, promote, and exceed all standards of safety as described in SGI’s policies and OSHA regulations. Report any employee injuries or liability claims immediately to the PM and Human Resources Department. Generate and implement company policy, systems, and procedures of all Field Operations, Safety, Quality Control, and Technical Training Programs. Operate, detect, and make necessary repairs to the irrigation system. Accurately read various gauges related to the irrigation system. Assist the Production Manager with job quality evaluations and recommend extra work or work orders to PM. B. Reduces customer service standards of the organization reflected in daily work habits. Research and respond to complaints within 24 hours unless can be completed same working day. Respond to requests from other departments within 24 hours unless can be completed same working day. When possible, take initiative to offer help to co‑workers in overload situations. Treat all co‑workers and customers courteously. C. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Code of Conduct and aligned with organization’s mission, vision, and shared values. Report promptly any suspected or potential violations of laws, regulations, procedures, policies, and practices, and cooperate in investigations with PM and coach and counsel employees. Conduct all transactions in compliance with all company policies, procedures, standards, and practices. Demonstrate knowledge of all applicable compliance and legal requirements of the job. D. Ensures that appearance and personal conduct are professional at all times. Maintain excellent attendance record and follow sick, rain day, and vacation day procedures. Wear appropriate uniform and PPE and keep truck, yards, and other work areas in good order. Maintain good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with customers and staff. Represent the organization positively and professionally in the community. Maintain organizational and employee confidentiality. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Hearing: Adequate to perform the essential functions. Speaking: Adequate to perform the essential functions such as communicating with multiple personnel. Vision: Normal visual acuity. Other: Must be able to prioritize; have cognitive reasoning and problem‑solving ability. Lifting to 50 lbs. Pushing up to 50 lbs.
