LPN Cord Blood Coordinator - OB Birth Center

As part of our Level III Birthing Center, you will deliver exceptional, high‑quality care to a diverse patient population and serve as a Cord Blood Coordinator. In this role you will review patient records for eligible candidates, obtain informed consent, assist the obstetrician during the final phase of labor with umbilical cord blood collection, prepare and provide necessary collection materials, obtain peripheral blood for infectious disease testing, accurately label cord blood units, enter and manage data, communicate with the Cleveland Cord Blood Center, and maintain the environment and supplies in accordance with regulations. Working hours are 6:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. days with rotating weekend requirements. Responsibilities Collect, document and report patient data and observations. Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions. Work as a scrub nurse in our OR. Help with admissions, breaks and lunches and in the recovery room. Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions. Perform routine laboratory tests. Educate patients and family members. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program. Current Ohio licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Preferred Qualifications One year of hospital/patient care experience. OB background. Procedural/hospital experience. Physical Requirements Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye‑hand coordination. Involves extensive standing and walking. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
