Job Description Job Description Position: Racquet Club Professional – Head of Junior Racquet Sports Reports to: Head of Racquet Sports and Director of Racquet Sports Department: Racquet Club FLSA: Non-Exempt Updated: 2026 ________________________________________ Position Summary: Promote the growth of tennis, pickleball and padel at Fisher Island Club. To supervise in the absence of the Director or Head Racquets Professional, (as the “Manager on Duty”) and be responsible for the operation of the Racquets department, grounds and buildings in a manner that reflects the mission of the Racquets Department. Mission Statement: Racquet Sports Department: The mission of the Racquets operation is to offer a comprehensive program that is responsive to the needs of the membership, including a consistent level of service that meets or exceeds expectations to build a strong community of racquet sports enthusiasts. ________________________________________ Primary Responsibilities: Operations • As the “Manager on Duty”, supervise and be accountable for all work that is to be performed by all staff members including but not limited to maintenance duties outlined below. • Ensure the timely preparation of materials for the department newsletter and website. Materials to include information on all junior activities. • Report and own any problems, issues, or equipment malfunctioning throughout the facility. • Ensure all junior activities, lessons, and clinics are properly booked in advance on the system. • Create all marketing campaigns alongside the Head Racquets Professional for all junior events ensuring the marketing campaigns are out at least two-three weeks in advance. • Communicate with parents in a proactive and positive way. Teaching / Instructional Program • Manage the Junior Racquets Program. Responsibilities include but not limited to the following: • Ensure accurate completion of member charges and payment for all junior program lessons, interclub, and junior events. • Planning, executing and managing an “Intra-Club” League Program or Junior Team Tennis. • Planning, executing and managing a creative Summer Racquets Camp program, including participation in sports camps, including the coordination of part-time instructors. • Planning a Junior Racquets Calendar of events each year in consultation with the Head Racquets Professional and Director. • Planning, executing and managing a year-round Junior Development Instructional Program. • Work with the Head Racquets Professional and Director in planning and coordinating all racquet sports instructional programs, lesson plans and new programs. • Teach racquet sports lessons, clinics and team practice sessions for members and children as requested by the Head Racquets Professional or Director. Member Events & Programs • Always promote all events and weekly programs with all members. • Assist with running member tournaments, mixers and other special events as requested by the Head Racquets Professional or Director. • Participate and play in doubles or singles games arranged with the members and club events. • Assist members in identifying and joining teams for junior or adult league play. • Watch members participate in league play to provide specific feedback and advice during team practices and clinics. Pro Shop • Work the pro shop desk when requested on absence of pro shop staff members. • String member and demo racquets as requested so that all racquets are strung within the club’s 48-hour restringing policy. • Work with the Pro Shop Manager to manage the level of racquets inventory and make recommendations on racquet close-outs / markdowns / or new products. • Work with the Racquets Pro Shop staff to coordinate the introduction to members of new racquets, and merchandise including the use and presentation of demo racquets during lessons etc. • Assist pro shop staff on signing up members to programs, arranging racquet sports games, and ensuring the delivery of iconic and exclusive services without being directed. Racquet Club Maintenance • Supervise and assist when needed the opening the facility and throughout the day to ensure that all courts and facility are prepared for play each day, as scheduled including but not limited to the following: • Empty and wipe down all tidy buckets • Reset all score-board tabs • Wipe down all benches, chairs and nets • Clear courts of all balls and debris. • Ensure that all screens and umbrellas are tight and tied at the end of the day, or on windy conditions above 20mph. • Foot Cleaners are clean and filled • Clay courts are brushed and lined • Water stations are working and fully stocked with cups and straws. • Hard, padel and pickleball courts, walkways and patio are clear of debris and organized. • Ensure all teaching items (i.e. balls, hoppers, etc.) are properly stored and organized. • Maintain courts in a professional manner and ensure that the environment is safe for all those who use the facility. • Assist with reporting or executing those items as described below, under the heading of “Racquets Maintenance Responsibilities” • Check for cleanliness of all bathrooms and remove any items for lost and found. • Check for cleanliness of all patios, walkway and parking lot areas including the removal of all trash, straightening and wiping down of chairs, removal of soiled towels etc. • Removal of all trash from the Racquets pro shop building. • Report and create work order to housekeeping if necessary. • Ensure the correct operation of all clay court sprinkler systems. • Maintain the ball machine clean, functioning correctly and full of balls. • Report to Head Racquets Professional any equipment or machinery that is not functioning correctly, including but not limited to rollers, carts, teaching equipment, ball machine, court lights and water fountains Job Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Minimum of three to five years’ experience as assistant professional staff in a private club, commercial or municipal tennis facility. • RSPA and/or PTR, or similar professional certifications are mandatory. • Involvement within the racquet sports industry like charitable events, tournament, conferences, pro workshops, webinars or similar is a must. • Experience in a service-related field, preferably at exclusive private country club’s environment. Skills: • Played junior tennis, college tennis, and/or professional sports like padel, tennis or pickleball. • Proficient level of computer knowledge with a specific, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, or Google documents. • Court maintenance knowledge. • Strong interpersonal skills required. • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills. • Respect and follow all company policies and procedures. • Team player • Passionate about racquet sports and customer satisfaction driven. • Must have a professional appearance and practice excellent personal hygiene. • Pride in your work by creating positive energy, excitement, and fun. • Demonstrate positive behaviors, smiling, being polite and courteous. Working Conditions: • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, or holidays. • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress. • Worked performed indoor and outdoor. It requires extended periods of walking, standing and physical activity. • Work under sun exposure, high outdoor temperatures and humidity associated with South Florida weather. • Occasionally lift and/or move objects 10-75lbs. • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
