Job Description This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full Time Safety Representative for our Los Angeles, California office. Expected Salary: $166,400 - $228,800 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law. - Develops, monitors, and maintains a world class project specific safety program.
- Performs daily inspections of construction sites and oversees inspections of other staff, consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.
- Assists in the monitoring of the monthly audits of consultant and contractor safety performance relating to accident statistics and compliance.
- Plans, organizes, and performs activities associated with the development and achievement of project specific goals and objectives. Develops and enforces policies, procedures, programs, and standards required to maintain a safe and hazard free environment for all project personnel and the traveling public.
- Identifies elements of consultant's work programs affecting project safety.
- Participates in overseeing the placement and management of insurance for consultants, contractors and subcontractors, and coordinates project construction related insurance matters.
- Prepares and presents written and oral reports to management.
- Directs the work of other staff, consultants and contractors.
- Trains other staff, consultants, and contractors, as required.
- Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of all subordinate employees.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
- Bachelor's degree - Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field OR equivalent experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years of construction safety management experience
- Valid California Class C driver's license
- Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30-hour training certification
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening
- Professional designation as a Construction Safety & Health Technician (CHST)
- Contractor experience (Safety Manager) highly desirable
