About the Role:

About the Role

The Design Intern will support the IMAX Design team in developing and evolving the IMAX brand identity across a variety of projects, products, and platforms. This role is ideal for a strong visual communicator with a passion for design and an interest in culture, movies, music, fandom, and emerging trends.

Working closely with the Design Director, Art Directors, and Production Managers, the Design Intern will contribute to both production-focused assignments and projects requiring creative exploration and higher-level design thinking. The role will support the development of brand assets, design systems, and visual content while gaining hands-on experience working within an established global brand.

Please note that this role is fully on-site, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with the Design Director and Art Directors to support the development and evolution of the IMAX brand identity.
• Work within established IMAX brand guidelines and assist in developing new, comprehensive design systems and guidelines.
• Produce high-quality visual content, including logos, graphics, illustrations, layouts, and other brand assets.
• Participate in brainstorming and creative development sessions, including developing mood boards, conducting visual research, and sharing ideas related to brand design.
• Create design elements and templates that can be utilized by other designers and cross-functional teams.
• Interpret creative briefs and translate project needs into thoughtful and strategic visual solutions.
• Support projects that range from production-focused execution to broader creative development and design exploration.
• Prepare and deliver design files accurately and according to project requirements.
• Work closely with the Design Director, Art Directors, and Production Managers on projects as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• Recent graduate or currently enrolled in and working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Advertising/Marketing, or a related field.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating design fundamentals, strategic thinking, and visual communication across a variety of projects.
• Advanced understanding of design principles, including typography, layout, color theory, composition, and visual hierarchy.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
• Ability to quickly conceptualize design solutions based on research, creative direction, and project objectives.
• Ability to understand creative briefs, ask relevant questions, and develop strategic designs that respond to the brief.
• Strong technical understanding of design file preparation and delivery.
• Ability to shift between detailed production execution and higher-level creative thinking and exploration.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Self-motivated and able to take initiative while working collaboratively within a creative team.
• A strong interest in brand identity, culture, movies, music, fandom, social trends, and IMAX.

Hiring Range :

$21.00 (per hour) Placement within this range depends on a candidate’s experience, skills, internal equity, and regional market factors. Eligible roles may also receive additional non-discretionary compensation such as shift premiums or overtime pay.
