The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appealing meals that meet residents' dietary needs while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the Cook may assist with overseeing daily kitchen operations.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook meals according to approved menus and recipesEnsure meals are prepared according to resident dietary restrictions and special dietsPrepare and serve food in appropriate portionsPrepare pureed and modified-consistency diets as requiredRecord and monitor food temperatures to ensure food safety complianceMaintain the kitchen and food preparation areas in a clean, sanitary, and organized mannerAssist with meal service and tray preparation as neededClean cooking equipment, workstations, and serving cartsMaintain sanitizer solutions and follow infection control proceduresMonitor food quality, presentation, and resident satisfactionReport resident concerns and dietary issues to nursing leadership and administrationParticipate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staffFollow all facility, state, and federal food safety regulationsQualificationsMust be at least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredMinimum of one year of cooking experience in a healthcare, hospital, skilled nursing, or long-term care settingKnowledge of therapeutic diets and dietary restrictionsServSafe Certification required or willingness to obtain and maintain certificationExperience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferredMust remain in good standing with applicable health and regulatory agenciesWhat Makes You a Great FitExperience preparing meals for seniors and healthcare populationsUnderstanding of special diets and nutrition requirementsFriendly, professional, and customer-service orientedStrong organizational and time-management skillsDependable and team-focusedCompassion for an underserved populationApply TodayJoin a team that values your contributions and gives you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents every day.
