Maintenance Mechanic - Facilities and Engineering - Evenings

Hourly Pay Range: $23.24 – $34.86. Position: Maintenance Mechanic. Location: Elmhurst Hospital. Full Time, 40 hours per week. Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 3pm–11:30pm with rotating holidays. Required travel: none. Responsibilities Perform routine repair and maintenance on patient furniture, plumbing fixtures, and other non‑clinical equipment. Carry out cleaning, greasing, oiling of equipment, filter changes, and replacement of consumable parts as needed. Inspect building systems and report repairs needed for walls, floor coverings, door closures, and other deficiencies. Notify the Supervisor and/or EngineerII of any discrepancies noted during the shift. Document results of preventative maintenance in established logs and alert the Supervisor of equipment repair needs. Repair and maintain non‑clinical electronic components such as television remote controls, nurse call systems, and med‑gas systems. Disassemble, repair or replace defective parts, reassemble, and test mechanical equipment performance as directed. Perform routine plumbing work such as unclogging toilets, sinks, and drain lines, and repairing or replacing faucets, shower heads, and related fixtures. Carry out miscellaneous minor building repairs, including changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling and floor tiles, patching walls, and similar tasks. Maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment according to department standards, and clean and store tools at the end of each shift. Apply preventative maintenance stickers with signature where appropriate. Repair and maintain all rolling stock, including beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, etc. Maintain a clean and neat work area prior to the end of each shift. Complete and return all work orders and maintain a log of activities including supplies used and time spent. Respond to code calls as appropriate. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum one year of facilities/engineering experience. A valid driver’s license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off‑site location.
