Field Supervisor - Pest & Wildlife Operations
$10,000 per monthFull-time
Tailor Made Pest and Wildlife
Are You the Leader People Naturally Turn To?
When a workday becomes disorganized, are you the person who establishes priorities and gets everyone moving in the right direction? Do you notice when a vehicle is not prepared, equipment has not been maintained, or an employee needs clearer instruction before those problems affect the customer?
Perhaps you have supervised employees in construction, landscaping, HVAC, plumbing, restoration, maintenance, delivery, pest control, or another hands-on service business. You understand that leadership is not about standing on the sidelines and giving orders. It means setting expectations, teaching employees, inspecting the work, addressing problems directly, and being willing to work beside the team.
If that sounds like you, Tailor Made Pest & Wildlife may have the opportunity you have been looking for.
The Opportunity
Tailor Made Pest & Wildlife is a locally owned and growing Louisville company. We are hiring a working Field Supervisor to help lead, train, and develop our pest-control and wildlife technicians.
This person will help technicians begin each day prepared, train new employees, provide continuous coaching, conduct quality-control checks, maintain company vehicles and equipment, respond to field problems, and complete a reduced service route after receiving company training.
This is an active, hands-on leadership position, not a desk-only management job.
Previous pest-control experience is not required. We will provide industry and technical training to the right leader. Previous supervisory or managerial experience is required because we need someone who already understands how to teach employees, communicate expectations, organize work, provide constructive feedback, and hold people accountable.
What Will You Be Responsible For?
Your day will often begin by helping make sure technicians have the job information, products, materials, PPE, tools, and equipment they need. You will review priority jobs, identify potential challenges, address readiness problems, and help the field team leave prepared and on time.
You will provide daily field direction under the Operations Manager’s leadership. When technicians encounter a difficult job, need help making a decision, or have a customer concern, you will be expected to respond calmly and find a practical solution.
When routine performance problems occur, you will address them directly and respectfully. You will document what you observed, explain the required correction, and provide the information to the Operations Manager for follow-up.
New-Hire Training
Have you ever seen a potentially good employee struggle because different people gave conflicting instructions or no one confirmed whether the employee actually understood the work? Part of your responsibility will be creating a more consistent training experience.
The Field Supervisor will help carry out the onboarding and training plan approved by the Operations Manager. You will explain company expectations, demonstrate approved work methods, observe new hires performing assigned tasks, provide immediate feedback, and document their progress.
New-hire training may include morning preparation, customer communication, service documentation, photographs, job notes, company technology, payment procedures, route organization, vehicle and equipment responsibilities, safety practices, PPE, and escalation procedures.
After completing the necessary pest and wildlife training, licensing, and competency requirements, you may also provide technical field instruction within the scope of your qualifications. Technical subjects outside your training or licensing must be referred to an appropriately qualified person designated by the Operations Manager.
Attending training does not automatically mean an employee is ready to work independently. You will be expected to observe each new hire demonstrate the required skills and provide the Operations Manager with an honest readiness recommendation.
Continuous Coaching and Development
Training will not stop after onboarding. You will provide continuous coaching based on quality-control findings, customer feedback, documentation reviews, safety observations, vehicle and equipment practices, and daily field performance.
Effective coaching in this role means explaining the expectation, identifying the specific behavior observed, demonstrating the correct process when necessary, confirming the employee understands, and following up to determine whether improvement occurred.
You will document meaningful coaching conversations and communicate employee progress, strengths, training needs, and performance concerns to the Operations Manager. You should recognize improvement and strong performance as clearly as you address deficiencies.
Repeated problems, refusal to follow instructions, dishonesty, serious safety concerns, or failure to improve must be escalated rather than allowed to continue through ineffective coaching.
Quality-Control Responsibilities
You will conduct scheduled and spot quality-control checks on active and completed work. This may include inspecting workmanship, reviewing service notes and photographs, checking device records, verifying that materials were used and documented appropriately, and confirming that corrective work was completed.
Quality-control findings must be factual and based on what you observed. You will document the findings and provide them to the Operations Manager for employee coaching, customer follow-up, or formal performance action when needed.
The Operations Manager will continue to own formal performance ride-alongs, evaluations, performance plans, and disciplinary follow-up. The Field Supervisor may conduct training shadow days, job-site observations, hands-on demonstrations, and competency checks. You may also participate in a formal ride-along when requested by the Operations Manager.
Vehicle and Equipment Care
Have you worked somewhere that lost valuable time because vehicles were disorganized or equipment was dirty, missing, damaged, or not ready? Part of your responsibility will be preventing those problems at Tailor Made Pest and Wildlife.
Technicians will remain responsible for completing their daily vehicle checklists, removing trash and job debris, unloading required equipment, restocking routine supplies, and reporting damage or maintenance concerns.
As Field Supervisor, you will personally detail one assigned company vehicle each week according to a rotating schedule. This includes deep-cleaning the cab, floors, seats, windows, storage areas, and cargo area; cleaning the exterior when conditions permit; reorganizing and restocking the vehicle; inspecting it for visible damage or maintenance concerns; and documenting the work completed.
You will also clean, inspect, organize, and help maintain company sprayers, traps, ladders, application equipment, wildlife equipment, tools, and other shared field equipment. When equipment is damaged or unsafe, you will notify the Operations Manager, and help coordinate an approved repair or replacement.
This is a hands-on responsibility, not simply something you will assign to another employee.
Field Service and Production
Once trained, you will complete a reduced pest-control or wildlife route representing approximately 40%–50% of a regular technician’s capacity.
When you are fully trained and assigned approximately 50% route capacity, the initial personal production target will be approximately $10,000 per month. This is a capacity-based target, not an unconditional quota.
Time spent training new hires, providing continuous coaching, conducting competency observations, completing quality-control checks, detailing vehicles, maintaining equipment, handling callbacks, or completing other management-directed work will be considered when evaluating available route capacity and production results.
You may also identify additional customer needs and recommend appropriate services. Eligible new or additional work that you personally sell will qualify for sales commission under the company’s written commission plan. Recommendations must be based on the customer’s legitimate needs without pressure, exaggeration, or misleading claims.
What Authority Will You Have?
You will have the authority to provide daily field direction, correct incomplete or unsafe work, conduct routine coaching, coordinate field tasks within the approved operating plan, and remove unsafe vehicles or equipment from service.
The Operations Manager will retain responsibility for formal ride-alongs, performance evaluations, approved time off, written discipline, scheduling decisions, and overall employee accountability. Pay changes, promotions, demotions, hiring, suspension, and termination decisions require company approval.
Why is this important? Technicians should not have to guess who is in charge or receive conflicting instructions from multiple managers. Your role will be to strengthen the Operations Manager’s plan and provide dependable field leadership.
Who Will Succeed in This Position?
You may be a strong fit if you have previous supervisory, managerial, foreman, assistant-manager, or team-lead experience and enjoy being involved in the actual work.
You should be comfortable training adults, correcting performance issues, and holding employees accountable without embarrassing or disrespecting them. You should know how to adjust your training approach when someone does not understand the first explanation while also recognizing when an employee understands the expectation but is choosing not to follow it.
You do not need to arrive knowing everything about pest or wildlife control. You do need to be willing to learn, follow product labels and safety requirements, obtain required credentials, use company technology, and accept technical coaching.
Experience managing field employees, routes, crews, vehicles, equipment, service quality, or customer concerns is preferred. Mechanical aptitude, home-service experience, and experience conducting quality inspections are also helpful.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet company driving and insurance requirements are required. Dependable attendance and early-morning availability are essential.
What Would Success Look Like?
Imagine beginning the day with technicians who know where they are going, understand what each job requires, and have the correct equipment. New employees receive consistent instruction, training records are current, and technicians are not approved for independent work until they demonstrate the required skills.
Vehicles are cleaner, shared equipment is ready, quality-control checks are completed, service records are accurate, and preventable problems are identified before they become customer complaints.
Success means technicians receive clear expectations, useful coaching, and consistent follow-up. The Operations Manager receives accurate information about employee progress, training needs, strengths, and performance concerns. Company leadership spends less time resolving routine daily problems because you take ownership and follow through.
Compensation and Benefits
This position starts at $25 per hour, depending on directly relevant supervisory, managerial, field-service, training, and industry experience. The position is overtime eligible and includes sales commission on qualifying work under the company’s written commission plan. The position is overtime eligible and includes sales commission on qualifying work under the company’s written commission plan.
Tailor Made provides paid pest and wildlife training and assistance obtaining required industry credentials. Additional benefits may include paid time off, retirement benefits, supplemental health benefits, and advancement opportunities according to current plan terms and eligibility requirements.
Physical and Working Conditions
This is an active field position. You must be willing and able to work outdoors in varying weather, drive between customer locations, enter homes and businesses, clean vehicles and equipment, and work around insects, rodents, nuisance wildlife, odors, dust, debris, and product residue.
After receiving the required training, the position may involve pest-control products, traps, tools, ladders, attics, crawlspaces, roofs, elevated surfaces, and other physically demanding environments. All work must be completed according to company safety procedures, product labels, licensing requirements, and PPE standards.
Reasonable accommodation will be considered for qualified individuals as required by applicable law.
Is This the Right Next Step for You?
Are you looking for more than another supervisor title? Would you like to help shape how a growing field team operates while staying close enough to the work to see the results of your leadership?
If you can bring organization, accountability, patience, practical judgment, and consistent follow-through, we can teach you the pest and wildlife industry.
If you are ready to train employees, maintain company resources, support technicians, serve customers, and lead from the field, we encourage you to apply.
Please submit your resume along with a short explanation of the type of team you have supervised, the employees you have trained, and how your leadership improved performance.
