Employment & Corporate Counsel

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Employment & Corporate Counsel based in the United States. This role provides strategic and practical legal guidance across employment, HR, corporate, and commercial matters. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will serve as the primary legal advisor for employee-related legal issues across the full employment lifecycle. You will partner closely with People/HR leadership and senior business stakeholders to provide clear, actionable advice in a fast-moving environment. The role also offers broad exposure to commercial contracting, corporate governance, business initiatives, and organizational growth. You will help develop scalable policies and processes while identifying and proactively managing legal and compliance risks. Success requires strong legal judgment, discretion, communication skills, and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical business solutions. Accountabilities - Serve as the primary legal advisor to People/HR teams and senior leadership on employment and workforce matters throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, separation, and executive compensation. - Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related documents, including offer letters, employment agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, severance arrangements, and independent contractor or consultant agreements. - Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including requirements related to wage and hour, leave, disability, discrimination, pay transparency, and remote work. - Conduct and oversee internal workplace investigations in partnership with HR, supporting fair, timely, and legally compliant resolutions. - Develop, update, and implement employee handbooks, HR policies, workplace guidelines, and related compliance processes across applicable jurisdictions. - Manage outside employment litigation counsel and support responses to agency charges, employment claims, and related disputes when necessary. - Draft, review, negotiate, and provide guidance on commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, SaaS agreements, NDAs, and master service agreements. - Support broader corporate initiatives such as M&A integration, corporate restructuring, international expansion, and other strategic business projects.

- Identify legal and compliance risks across business operations and develop proactive, scalable solutions aligned with organizational objectives. - Partner cross-functionally with business leaders to provide practical legal guidance and translate complex legal requirements into clear recommendations. - Maintain a high level of discretion when handling sensitive employee, executive, corporate, and business information. Requirements - Juris Doctor (J. D. ) degree from an accredited U. S. law school. - Active membership in good standing with at least one U. S. state bar. - 3+ years of relevant legal experience practicing employment law and general corporate law. - Strong knowledge of employment law, labor regulations, workplace compliance, and related legal requirements. - Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating standard commercial agreements. - Familiarity with multi-state employment law considerations, particularly in remote or hybrid workplace environments. - Prior law firm experience in an employment, labor, or corporate practice group is preferred. - In-house legal experience within a high-growth technology, digital health, SaaS, or similarly dynamic organization is preferred.
