With decades of experience and a deeply knowledgeable in-house design team, we deliver engineered truss solutions that meet the highest standards for strength, precision, and performance—backed by reliable service from design to delivery About the Role The Truss Builder is responsible for putting chords, blocks and webs into proper configurations within the roof or floor truss jig according to the specifications of the cut sheet. Supervision of the performance of his/her job will vary with the tasks. The Truss Builder is a non-exempt position and is expected to act as an internal ambassador of the Truswood brand and reputation. Work will be performed in an open-air production facility with exposure to outdoor weather conditions (i.e. heat, cold). Responsibilities Stack the proper size and correct amount of plates, according to job specifications, placing them at points along the trusses where they will be used. Place the top and bottom chords in the floor truss jig according to the cut sheet. Assure that web angles are properly aligned with joints. Bring evidence of poor quality or broken lumber to the immediate attention of the Crew Leader to insure only quality lumber is being used to build the trusses. Tack plates to immobilize vertical blocks and tighten webs/tack plates in place at joints, insuring that proper plate sizes are used, that plates are centered correctly on joints; that joints are tight and have no gaps. Lift trusses up at the joints to allow plates to be placed on the backsides of the trusses. Safely operate the roller to press plates into place and operate the air valves to raise the lift-outs. Maintain a safe and clean work environment during (especially before starting to build a new series of trusses) and at the end of each shift, including swept floors and stacking remaining plates. Qualifications Education: No specific requirement. Experience: Six months of truss builder or similar lumber-construction background desirable. Applicants are required to complete an application and comply with all E-Verify requirements. Required Skills Must have and utilize good communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to work safely in a team environment. Requires the ability to consistently use a hammer and tape measure to complete job tasks. Demonstrates understanding of all safety requirements and hazards of the job, especially regarding rollers and other moving equipment. May be asked to perform some Crew Leader tasks when necessary.
