Learn more at Summary: The CHESS Nursing Assistant is an advanced, multidisciplinary role providing clinical and technical support across acute care and skilled nursing settings as part of a specialized Float Pool. The role develops competency across multiple clinical areas and technical functions through the CHESS Point Allocation Tool (PAT), providing opportunities for continued professional growth, increased versatility, and additional compensation as designated competencies are achieved and maintained.

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Provide flexible nursing assistant support across assigned clinical areas, including Med/Surg, SSSU, Behavioral Services, ICU, Maternal Child Health/OB, and skilled nursing settings based on demonstrated competency and organizational need. * Obtain and document vital signs and intake/output and promptly communicate changes in patient appearance, behavior, condition, or other clinical observations to the appropriate RN or clinical team member. * Perform approved technical functions based on demonstrated competency, which may include phlebotomy, ECGs, telemetry monitoring, AvaSure monitoring, transfer center coordination, and other specialized clinical support. * Provide sterile field and instrumentation support as an OB Scrub Technician when trained and competency-validated for the function. * Reinforce established patient care, safety, and post-operative instructions within role scope and maintain required CHESS competencies through ongoing utilization and revalidation.

Required Skills and Experience:

* High school diploma or equivalent education. * Current BLS certification. * Current New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification at hire or ability to obtain NYS CNA certification within six (6) months of hire as a condition of continued employment. * Minimum of two (2) years of acute care experience at Cayuga Medical Center. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple patient care environments and acquire and maintain specialized clinical and technical competencies appropriate to assigned areas.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

* Three (3) years of acute care experience at Cayuga Medical Center. * Previous training or demonstrated competency in one or more specialized CHESS functions, including phlebotomy, ECG, telemetry monitoring, AvaSure monitoring, ICU support, Maternal Child Health/OB, skilled nursing, or surgical/sterile technique.

Physical Requirements:

* Physical requirements are consistent with direct patient care in acute care and skilled nursing environments and may include prolonged standing and walking; frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and positioning; assisting with patient mobility and transfers; and operating clinical equipment. Final ADA-compliant physical requirements should be confirmed through the applicable physical demands analysis.

Location, Travel and Shift Requirements:

* Location: Onsite at Cayuga Medical Center- 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca NY 14850 and/or Schuyler Hospital 220 Steuben Street, Montour Falls NY 14865 based on operational and patient care needs. * Shift: Schedule and shift assignments may vary based on Float Pool coverage needs and may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. * Travel: Travel between designated Centralus Health/Cayuga Health locations may be required based on assignment.

Pay Range Disclosure:

* Standard Rate of $19.47-$25.75 per hour plus benefits, with base rate determined by applicable experience. * CHESS Nursing Assistants may be eligible for additional hourly compensation based on competencies achieved and maintained through the Point Allocation Tool (PAT), in accordance with the applicable CHESS compensation structure.
