RN Clinical Nurse Job Summary The RN Clinical Nurse is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers dedicated to delivering personalized, high-quality, and safe care to patients, their families, and significant others. This position functions within a clinical setting overseen by Nurse Managers and leadership, supported by a shared governance framework. The nursing practice is guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based research. RN competencies align with these models and are reinforced by organizational values. All RN Clinical Nurses must hold a valid license, possess comprehensive knowledge, and adhere to nursing practice as outlined by the applicable Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient care team, the nurse advocates for the patient’s perspective, complies with system policies and procedures, and contributes to achieving service excellence. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Exemplary Practice and Outcomes Applies the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking to deliver individualized clinical care. Provides relationship-centered, patient-focused care tailored to specific population characteristics such as age, gender, disease, and cultural diversity. Engages patients and their significant others through effective communication methods, including bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient education, ensuring care plans are guided by patient goals. Follows current clinical practice standards consistently. Teamwork and Collaboration Coordinates safe, high-quality patient care and documentation that supports a professional care delivery model, including clear interdisciplinary communication and timely record-keeping. Exemplifies teamwork by practicing fiscal responsibility and supporting recruitment and retention efforts for healthcare team members. Participates in and supports performance improvement initiatives involving all stakeholders, research activities, and shared governance. Professional Development and Initiative Completes all required initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training. Acts as a preceptor or mentor to nurses, staff, or students to ensure a skilled workforce and promote a positive work environment. Evidence-Based Practice and Research Advocates for evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement, including involvement in value analysis for patient care products. Adheres to all organizational policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements, including patient safety goals. Engages in data collection, formulates clinical questions, consults experts, and utilizes resources to resolve practice-related inquiries. Resources and Support Plans patient care across the continuum during direct care delivery. Contributes to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and healthcare team members to enhance outcomes. Supports the efficient use of human and material resources. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all organizational policies, work standards, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is preferred. Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications All certifications must be current at the time of hire unless otherwise noted. Registered Nurse (RN) license - single state or multi-state compact. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or equivalent. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or equivalent, provisional status allowed within 180 days. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or equivalent, provisional status allowed within 180 days. Required Minimum Experience Less than one year of experience; successful completion of an accredited nursing program with required clinical hours is mandatory. Direct patient care experience is preferred. Required Minimum Skills Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English; basic computer skills to support clinical care. Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and customer service abilities. Capability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with decisiveness, composure, and respect. Excellent time management skills.
