Perfusionist

Sets up and operates heart/lung machines that support organ function during cardiac surgery or other procedure where circulatory or respiratory function is disrupted. Operates equipment to produce bypass, coronary perfusion, recirculation or partial bypass, or to alter blood temperature, balance, or content.

Shift: 5x8s, 7:00a-3:00p. Is on-call REQ? (Y/N): YES, Call is Monday 3am - until the next Monday 7am. Weekend REQ: See on-call notes. Will this traveler float between service lines? (Y/N): NO Floating Req to Sister Facilities? (Y/N): NO Types of procedures performed on the unit: CABG, VASCULAR, NEURO, OR ANY CASE WITH POTENTIAL OF MAJOR BLOOD LOSS. Required/Preferred Years of experience REQ: 2 Years. First time travelers accepted (Y/N): YES.

Education Required: ACCREDITED CARDIOVASCULAR PERFUSION PROGRAM. Certifications REQ: ABCP CERTIFICATION, ACLS, BLS. Radiation Badge REQ (Y/N): Yes. Radiation badge MUST be provided by agency; MUSC does NOT provide radiation badges to travelers. Equipment Experience Required: HEART/LUNG MACHINE, QUEST, AUTOTRANSFUSION, CARDIOHELP, IMPELLA, IABP AND ANY OTHER STANDARD PERFUSION EQUIPMENT.

Miscellaneous Open to accommodating block schedule? (Y/N): Requires managers approval upon request. Dependent on unit's needs. Local Radius: 60-mile radius rule. Locals Accepted: No local travelers accepted. RTO Restrictions for Client Offers: All RTO must be included at time of submission. Approval will be based on facility needs. Guaranteed Hours: Facility is allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks. Called off hours can be broken down to add up to 1 shift.

Hurricane Season** Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. If this is a problem, please ensure travelers do not confirm a new or ext assignment during the season. Hurricane season runs from June through November each year. The peak months for hurricane activity are August and September.
