POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality ultrasound procedures to our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training: Graduate of an approved ultrasound school and subsequent accreditation through ARDMS. May be registered in OB/GYN, ABDOMEN, and BREAST, VASCULAR. BLS is required within 90 days of hire. Workplace Experience: Preference of at least two years of work experience in a hospital setting after graduation and accreditation; training available. Equipment and Skills Training: Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Medical Center. Physical Environment: Multi‑modality imaging department providing OB/GYN, abdominal, vascular and pelvic ultrasound studies, including pediatric imaging. Physical Effort: Ability to physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in patient transfer, lift 20 pounds, communicate clearly, make decisions in urgent situations, and maintain emotional stability. Must be willing to take calls for STAT, urgent, and routine studies after hours and on weekends, and be available within 30 minutes for STAT procedures.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy before proceeding with the study. Communicates potential or existing problems or opportunities to improve quality of care or services. Maintains patient dignity by ensuring proper coverage during examination and transport. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime and makes productive use of time. Monitors patients in hallways to ensure comfort and coverage (pain management). Performs biopsies with appropriate “time out” procedures, marking body part and labeling specimens. Demonstrates leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions. Transports patients to and from rooms per transport processes, including use of hand‑off forms when necessary. Ensures patient safety when moving patients from wheelchair, including proper footwear. Performs high‑quality studies consistently following predetermined protocols provided by radiologists. Provides portable studies when in the best interest of the patient as determined by nursing staff. Uses knowledge of anatomy and disease processes to accurately communicate patient pathology to the radiologist. #J-18808-Ljbffr Williamson Medical Group
