Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician operates production equipment and performs hands-on manufacturing and assembly of clinical and commercial medical products. The role follows detailed blueprints, guidelines, and diagrams to ensure all products meet strict specifications and tolerance levels. The technician maintains accurate production records, documents activities in batch records and forms, and promptly reports any inconsistencies or equipment issues in line with standard procedures. This position may involve working with chemicals and requires strong attention to detail, careful handling of small parts, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a regulated medical device environment.
Responsibilities

• Operate production equipment to manufacture and assemble clinical and commercial medical devices according to established procedures.
• Perform assembly processes for medical devices, ensuring all products meet specified quality and tolerance requirements.
• Follow blueprints, guidelines, and diagrams to complete assembly and manufacturing tasks accurately.
• Measure and prepare chemical solutions in accordance with safety and quality standards.
• Prepare assembly tooling and equipment for production activities.
• Clean and sterilize medical device components to maintain product quality and compliance.
• Complete weekly cleaning of the production area and equipment to support a safe and orderly work environment.
• Document all production activities in batch records and forms with accurate and legible entries.
• Maintain required records of production and report any inconsistencies, deviations, or equipment issues following standard procedures.
• Apply safety procedures consistently when working with production equipment, chemicals, and small components.
• Handle very small parts with care, using fine motor skills and manual dexterity to ensure precise assembly.
• Collaborate with team members to support smooth production flow and help achieve daily and weekly output goals.
• Ask questions, think critically, and raise concerns when processes, materials, or equipment appear out of specification.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors regarding production status, issues, and improvement opportunities.

Essential Skills

• Experience in assembly and manufacturing processes, preferably in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of and adherence to safety procedures when working with production equipment and chemicals.
• Associate's degree.
• GMP medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
• Fine motor skills and manual dexterity for handling very small parts and components.
• Ability to follow blueprints, guidelines, and diagrams to meet product specifications and tolerance levels.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks and documenting work.
• Ability to question processes and think critically when identifying potential issues.
• Ability to thrive in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, including accurate completion of batch records and forms.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in medical device manufacturing or other GMP-regulated production environments.
• Comfort working with chemicals in a controlled production setting.
• Experience with cleaning and sterilization of components and production areas.
• Interest in growing into roles with increased responsibility, leadership, or advancement within a small, fast-growing organization.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to contribute ideas for process improvements.

Work Environment
This role is based in a small, start-up manufacturing environment with strong employee relationships and a close-knit, family-like culture. The work involves operating production equipment, assembling medical devices, and handling very small parts and chemical solutions in a controlled setting. The environment emphasizes Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety procedures, and cleanliness, including regular cleaning and sterilization of components, production areas, and equipment. Team members work collaboratively, support one another, and have opportunities for advancement and leadership as the organization grows.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
