Controller/ Independent Agency Accountant (Applied Epic Specialist)

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage full-cycle financial operations for our independent insurance agency. This role requires  extensive, hands-on expertise in Applied Epic, specifically within its accounting and reporting modules. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our general ledger, premium trust accounts, and commission reconciliations.

• On-site (Preferred): This position is primarily based at our office to foster collaboration.

• Remote: We will consider highly qualified candidates for a remote/hybrid arrangement if they demonstrate expert-level proficiency in Applied Epic workflows.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range:  $80,000 – $90,000per year (commensurate with experience).
\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger within Applied Epic following GAAP standards.
\n
• Premium Trust Management: Oversee premium trust and operating accounts, ensuring strict compliance with fiduciary requirements.
\n
• Reconciliations: Perform complex reconciliations for carrier statements, direct bill commissions, and agency bill transactions.
\n
• Direct & Agency Billing: Process carrier downloads (IVANS), imports, and manual commission statements.
\n
• Month-End/Year-End Closing: Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, including producer/broker commission statements and profitability analysis.
\n
• Workflow Optimization: Evaluate and refine Applied Epic accounting workflows to improve efficiency and data integrity
\n
• Payroll: Familiarity with the payroll process. Preferable experience with processing payroll via ADP/Paycheck/Quickbooks.

Required Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Experience: 3–5+ years of accounting experience specifically within an independent insurance agency.
\n
• Applied Epic Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of the Applied Epic management system is  mandatory .
\n
• P&C Knowledge: Thorough understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) workflows and trust accounting.
\n
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) for data analysis and reporting.
\n
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant experience.
\n

Preferred Skills:

\n

\n
• Experience with  Applied Analytics or  Applied CSR24 .
\n
• Prior involvement in an Applied Epic system implementation or migration
\n
• Certifications such as  Applied Epic Certified User .
