CAFE CASHIER (Temporary)

Primary responsibility is to effectively perform cashier related functions as well as performing cooking duties, while maintaining the highest level of customer service. Maintain a friendly and professional environment by greeting and acknowledging every customer and co-worker that approaches. Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities on a daily basis. Effectively communicate customer service issues and requests to management. Perform any other duties as directed by management.

Examples of work performed include handling cash, checks, credit cards; counting till at the beginning and end of each shift, verifying that all transactions were done correctly and till balances at the end of each shift; maintaining the store appearance by keeping everything neat and clean; stocking inventory (including but not limited to groceries, fountain, and coffee areas); operation of espresso machine in accordance with rules and procedures; maintaining a clean and sanitary work area; setting up stations according to restaurant guidelines; preparing all food items in a sanitary and timely manner; following recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by manager; assisting in cleaning, sanitization, and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas other duties as directed by management.

Employment standards include the ability to repetitively use arms, hands and fingers; ability to communicate and work effectively with team members; positive attitude when working with customers; knowledge of employment and food handling procedures. Ability to stand for long periods. Must be able to multi-task.

Physical activity requirements include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, talking, hearing/listening and repetitive motion. Heavy work: lifting up to 20 lbs on a daily basis. Work environment: indoor, climate controlled environment.
