Water Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Water Engineer to support the planning, design, delivery and improvement of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will contribute to projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, construction support and commissioning. Responsibilities will include preparing technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings and schedules; undertaking hydraulic modelling and network analysis; assessing asset performance; and developing practical, sustainable solutions that meet regulatory, environmental and operational requirements.


You will work closely with clients, contractors, consultants, regulators and internal stakeholders to coordinate project activities and deliver high-quality outcomes. The role will involve reviewing existing systems, identifying risks and improvement opportunities, supporting site investigations and surveys, monitoring progress against scope, budget and programme, and providing technical advice throughout the project lifecycle. You may also be required to assist with approvals, procurement documentation, tender evaluations, construction inspections and the resolution of technical issues. A strong commitment to health and safety, quality assurance, environmental stewardship and professional standards is essential.


Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in water, wastewater, drainage or hydraulic infrastructure. Experience with hydraulic modelling software, engineering design packages, GIS and standard Microsoft applications is desirable. You will need sound knowledge of applicable legislation, technical standards and design principles, as well as the ability to interpret data and communicate complex information clearly. Strong organisational, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills are required, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Professional registration or progress towards chartered status would be advantageous.
