Pre-K Counts Lead Teachers

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Pre-K Counts teacher who plans, implements, and supervises all classroom activities. Pre-K Counts teachers make academic and social service referrals and share the responsibility for parent involvement in the program. The teacher works graciously with other team members to support the goals of the program in accordance with DHS and Keystone STARS Guidelines. The teacher will oversee no more than 20 children in the Pre-K Counts program.

Key Responsibilities
1. Supervises and coordinates all aspects of assigned classroom in accordance with federal and state guidelines including, but not limited to, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, the Creative Curriculum, Keystone STARS and ECERS Rating Scale Program Performance Standards
2. Creates electronic lesson plans that deliver high quality instruction designed to meet individual student needs
3. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of child development
4. Establishes and maintains positive professional relationships including but not limited to : our Children of God children, their families, their program colleagues, administrators, and our local community.
5. Commits to ongoing professional development
6. Implements high quality formative and summative assessment using strategic observations, Teaching Strategies GOLD and Classroom Rating Scales (ECERS).
7. Prepare the room and have materials ready to teach BEFORE the first child arrives. Be in the classroom room a minimum of 30 minutes before the session begins
8. Creates a community of students socially and emotionally regulated resulting in a positive classroom culture
9. Engages families in their child’s instructional program through weekly and monthly communication
10. Seeks outside resources to support students and their families
11. Additional duties may be assigned by administration, as needed, to adapt to the changing needs of the program.
12. This is a full-time, 185-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Instructional hours are 7:30a.m to 12:30p.m. Prep/Nap/lunch time 12:30p.m. to 3:30p.m. daily, Hours are dependent on the needs of the program. An occasional evening may be required as job duties demand.
Physical Requirements
• Reasonable accommodations will be made to support individuals with disabilities in performing essential functions.
• Regularly required to sit, use hands, and communicate effectively.
• Frequently required to walk, reach, and interact with children.
• Occasionally required to stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, or lift up to 25 pounds.
• Visual acuity including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception is required.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related Human Services field.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct experience working with children.
• Pennsylvania Early Childhood Certification (or willingness to apply for Emergency Certification); PA Teacher Certification preferred.
• Required clearances and training: PA State Background Check, Child Abuse Clearance, NSOR, FBI Fingerprinting, Mandated Reporter Certification, CPR Certification, 10-Hour Health & Safety Training, and two letters of professional reference.
