Job Summary

Operating Room Assistant Operating Room Pediatrics Only. The Operating Room Assistant supports nursing staff with receiving, caring for, and transporting patients to and from the perioperative region. The role also maintains patient care equipment, provides supplies and equipment, supports infection control practices, and contributes to a safe and efficient operating room environment.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) credential; ability to work flexible assignments and different shifts; customer service skills for interactions with patients, families, and staff in high-volume and stressful situations; ability to learn and evaluate new equipment and procedures quickly; ability to maintain confidentiality; effective problem-solving, workflow, organizational, and resource-management skills; ability to provide appropriate care based on individual age, culture, and developmental needs; ability to speak, read, write, and understand English at a level appropriate for the role; ability to work in a fast-paced environment with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds; knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods, operating room equipment and supplies, patient record protocols, computer systems, and emergency response responsibilities.
• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 8 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Assignment Dates: 11/16/2026 through 02/13/2027.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include transporting and receiving patients, equipment, supplies, blood products, and specimens; cleaning and maintaining equipment and patient care areas; performing stocking and housekeeping duties; practicing aseptic techniques; assisting with patient care activities such as non-invasive monitoring, specimen collection, ambulation, and repositioning; participating in quality improvement, equipment and supply evaluations, staff meetings, and preventive maintenance activities; and following departmental, institutional, and regulatory policies and procedures.
