Job Summary
The Academic Advisor and Coordinator of Honors Living-Learning Programs (AA) plays a critical role in student achievement and engagement in the Honors College. The AA promotes student success and professional development through regular, intensive advisement and student interaction. In addition, the position coordinates and develops programming for the Honors Living Learning community and the Honors College Ambassadors, which serves as a foundational element of student engagement, support, and retention in the Honors College. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, humanities, behavioral science disciplines, or a related field. Two (2) years of experience in education, advising, counseling, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Valid driver's license is required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, humanities, counseling, behavioral sciences, or relevant field. The Academic Advisor and Coordinator of Honors Living-Learning Programs (AA) plays a critical role in student achievement and engagement in the Honors College. The AA promotes student success and professional development through regular, intensive advisement and student interaction. In addition, the position coordinates and develops programming for the Honors Living Learning community and the Honors College Ambassadors, which serves as a foundational element of student engagement, support, and retention in the Honors College. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as Honors academic advisor, meeting Honors Scholars once each semester and additionally, as needed, in order to assess progress in the Honors curriculum and monitor grades.
- Counsel students with regard to professional and personal development opportunities, including internships, research experiences, and national awards. Advises the dean about Honors Scholars' academic standing.
- Advises the dean in maintaining the Honors curriculum, scheduling of classes, curriculum planning, and student needs.
- Develops and coordinates programming for the Honors Living-Learning Community; collaborates with the Division of Housing and Residence Life, the Office of Student Success, and other campus entities.
- Facilitates LLC activities that include faculty, Honors College Ambassadors, and other appropriate speakers.
- Leads alumni outreach and engagement, including coordinating the annual Honors alumni newsletter, The Medallion, planning alumni activities, and facilitating relationships between current students and alumni.
- Collaborates and participates in a variety of critical functions, including recruitment, event-planning and coordination (e.g. Honors Day, GEWW activities, and the like), representing the College on University committees as appropriate, etc.
- Serves as staff advisor for the Honors College Ambassadors, the student organization associated with the Honors College.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Interest in student success and mentoring undergraduates
- Familiarity with living learning communities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present and explain information clearly and professionally to a wide range of audiences
- Ability to engage students and to create and enhance their connection to the Honors College, the Institution and to each other
- Ability to work independently; demonstrating strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, flexibility in problem-solving.
- Ability to work effectively with students and foster a respectful, supportive, and inclusive community
- Strong aptitude with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
