Ironworker / Structural Welder

Location: Central, GA

Reports To: Power Division Project Management

PAY: $26-34/HR (BOE) and $125 a day per diem

About the Position

We are looking for experienced Ironworkers / Structural Welders to join our Power Division team in Central, GA. This is a hands-on construction position involving structural steel erection, rigging, crane signaling, alignment, and welding.

The ideal candidate is safety-minded, comfortable working at heights and in challenging environments, and has experience working with structural steel.

What You'll Do

• Install, assemble, dismantle, and move structural steel, equipment, conveyors, and machinery.

• Read and interpret structural drawings and assembly instructions.

• Perform proper rigging and crane signaling procedures.

• Align and secure structural steel members for bolting, riveting, or welding.

• Direct crane movement of steel and other materials around the jobsite.

• Connect columns, beams, and girders using drift pins and other tools.

• Drill and ream holes for structural steel bolting.

• Use levels, laser equipment, plumb bobs, and other tools to verify alignment and elevations.

• Perform structural welding using SMAW (stick welding).

• Identify and repair welding defects.

• Repair damaged paint and galvanized coatings as needed.

• Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.

• Follow all company and jobsite safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Structural steel or industrial construction experience.

• Experience with rigging and crane signaling.

• Ability to read structural drawings.

• Ability to perform structural steel alignment and installation.

• Welders must be able to pass an all-position SMAW welding test .

• Strong understanding of jobsite safety and proper PPE.

• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.

• PEMB (Pre-Engineered Metal Building) erection experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; heavier materials may occasionally be handled with assistance.

• Climb ladders and work on elevated structures.

• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, and twist for extended periods.

• Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Work in confined spaces and around heavy equipment.

• Maintain balance and safely navigate uneven terrain.

• Wear required PPE throughout the work shift.

Work Environment

This is a physically demanding position in an industrial construction environment. Employees may work at significant heights, around heavy equipment, in confined spaces, and in changing weather conditions. A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship is required.
