Regional Medical Scientific Director (US Medical Affairs) Gastrointestinal Immunology - Great Lakes Territory

Merck seeks a credentialed Regional Medical Scientific Director to serve as a therapeutic expert in gastrointestinal immunology across the Great Lakes territory. The role engages scientific leaders in peer-to-peer exchanges, supports clinical research initiatives, and bridges the scientific community with the company's medical affairs strategy.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with regional scientific leaders and provide balanced medical information
• Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions and address scientific inquiries within scope
• Identify potential investigators and study sites for Phase II–IV clinical trials; conduct site initiation visits
• Gather scientific insights and feedback to inform company understanding of medical needs and priorities
• Represent the company at scientific congresses and medical meetings to facilitate data exchange

Requirements

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD credential required
• Minimum 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond terminal degree
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level scientific discussions with external stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and pharmaceutical industry regulations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills
