Staff Accountant - Temp to Perm

This is a temp to perm opportunity with a very stable, family-owned company in the Delran / Riverton. NJ area. The staff accountant is an on-site position and a part of a team of 3-5 accounting professionals for this well-established, successful industry leader. It is possible this will go “perm” after Position Overview This position reports to the Accounting Manager and provides comprehensive administrative and accounting support to the Accounting Department. The Staff Accountant is responsible for generating and validating financial reports, creating and maintaining Excel worksheets, posting journal entries and transactions in the accounting system, preparing supporting documentation, and assisting with general ledger account reconciliations. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate month-end and year-end close procedures and maintains complete and accurate subledger details across multiple accounting functions. Primary Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Prepare and post journal entries and account analysis records Conduct monthly reconciliations and create adjusting entries for cash, accounts receivable, prepaid assets, inventory, and fixed assets Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory balances to the general ledger Maintain accurate subledger details that support month-end close procedures Prepare year-end audit work papers and assist with tax, insurance, and other audits Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets for various accounting functions Manage data entry, entries, and training within the company's ERP system Review accounting information to identify and resolve variances or inaccuracies Prepare sales tax returns and GSA IFF calculations Support special projects and process improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency Flexible scheduling including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet deadlines Perform ad hoc accounting, finance, and project work as assigned Key Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required) 2-+ years of related accounting experience (required) Working knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and ERP systems Strong attention to detail with ability to identify and resolve discrepancies Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with internal/external customers Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment Professional demeanor and sound judgment when handling confidential information Preferred Qualifications CPA Candidate status or pursuing CPA Certification Experience with accounting system software and enterprise resource planning platforms Pay: $31.25 - $37.50 per hour If you are NOT interested or unqualified, please send us a referral.
