Job Title: Tool & Die Maker Job Description

The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for designing, fabricating, assembling, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, dies, gauges, fixtures, and other production tooling. This role requires strong machining ability, proficiency in reading detailed blueprints, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, modify, repair, and maintain tools, dies, fixtures, and gauges to meet precise specifications.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and technical documents.

• Operate CNC and manual machines, including mills, lathes, grinders, EDM, and drill presses.

• Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to ensure accuracy.

• Diagnose and resolve tooling and process issues to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.

• Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to support manufacturing operations.

• Maintain accurate tooling records, including documentation, revisions, and preventive maintenance logs.

• Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards within the toolroom and production floor.

• Support continuous improvement efforts focused on tooling performance, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship or equivalent technical training.

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Tool & Die Maker or related precision machining role.

• Strong knowledge of metals, tooling materials, heat treatment, and machining processes.

• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T.

• Proficiency in manual machining; CNC experience preferred.

• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

Work Environment

The role operates in a manufacturing and toolroom environment with exposure to moving machinery, metal shavings, noise, and lubricants. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

This is a Permanent position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $104000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
