Make a difference in the lives of 8th-grade students by joining a contract position focused on supporting learners as a Special Education Teacher in a resource/co-taught English Language Arts setting. This opportunity empowers you to partner with general education staff and provide direct support for students’ academic and personal development in an inclusive and encouraging environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification appropriate for Illinois
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in resource and co-teaching models
- Background supporting middle school students, especially in English Language Arts
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with colleagues and families
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and adapt instruction as needed
- Committed to fostering inclusivity and equity in the classroom
Responsibilities:
- Co-teach 8th Grade ELA classes with a general education partner, providing differentiated instruction
- Deliver targeted resource support to students in alignment with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Employ various instructional strategies and accommodations to enhance student learning and engagement
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to regular IEP meetings
- Communicate proactively with students, parents, and staff to ensure academic and social-emotional success
- Help create a nurturing, positive, and supportive classroom atmosphere
