The Court of Administrative Hearings (CAH)’s General Counsel, Abigail Rankin, will be leaving the court at the end of the month to pursue a new opportunity with the Minnesota Supreme Court. We thank her for her dedicated work to fulfill CAH’s mission over the past three years, and wish her all the best in her new role.
Accordingly,CAH is now hiring a General Counsel.

General Counsel Role
CAH’s General Counsel serves as the court’s chief in-house counsel and is a member of the court’s Executive Team alongside the Chief Judge, Deputy Chief Judge, and Court Administrator. Leading the Court’s Office of General Counsel and supervising a team of in-house attorneys, the General Counsel guides the legal work that supports CAH’s judicial functions.
What You’ll Do
- Provide executive-level advice and litigation management for the court
- Serve as the court’s Ethics Officer
- Serve as (or supervise) the Data Practices Compliance Official
- Act as a liaison to the Legislature, Governor’s Office, Executive Branch agencies, and other external stakeholders
- Provide legal analysis across a wide range of specialized, complex areas
- Advise on court policies, procedures, and data practices compliance and requests
- Guide the development and review of proposed legislation and administrative rules
