CNC Machinist

CNC Machinist / Press Setup OperatorWe are seeking a versatile and skilled CNC Machinist / Press Setup Operator to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This dual-role position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines as well as progressive die stamping presses. The ideal candidate has experience in precision machining and metal stamping, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC machines to produce precision machined componentsInterpret blueprints, technical drawings, and part specificationsSelect, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materialsAdjust CNC machine settings to optimize performance and maintain qualityPerform routine maintenance and troubleshoot CNC equipmentSet up and operate progressive die stamping presses (100–800+ ton range)Install dies, tooling, and materials for production runsMonitor press operations and make necessary adjustmentsMeasure and inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision toolsEnsure all products meet required tolerances and specificationsMaintain accurate production and inspection recordsFollow all safety procedures and quality standardsMaintain a clean and organized work environmentQualificationsExperience with CNC machine setup and operation requiredExperience with progressive die press setup and metal stamping requiredAbility to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsStrong math skills and mechanical aptitudeProficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.)Experience working with high-tonnage presses (100–800+ tons) preferredStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWork EnvironmentIndustrial/manufacturing settingExposure to machinery, noise, and metal materialsStanding for extended periodsEQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER: Surge is an equal opportunity employer.
