Job Description Job Description Position Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant Reports to : Occupational Therapist FLSA Status : Exempt _________________________________________________________________________________________ Position Description: Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist (OT), the Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA), will be responsible for providing therapy in identified areas of need related to occupational performance at school. Essential Job Functions Provide occupational therapy treatment and implement programs as designed by the occupational therapist. Monitor students' adaptive equipment, make recommendations to the therapist, and assist in adapting, fabricating, and maintaining equipment Document student progress and maintain appropriate data/records pertaining to therapy services. Track student’s record to determine when reviews are scheduled. Assist OTs during assessments with documentation and performing clerical duties. Interact with parents and school personnel, and contribute information in meetings, conferences, or informal interactions. Organize and prioritize work. Abide by federal and state mandates as well as local policies as they relate to school-based occupational therapy services. Communicate effectively in oral and written form. Maintain cooperative work relationships. Demonstrate flexibility and react with sensitivity to changing situations and needs. Perform other duties as assigned by the therapist. Qualifications Associate degree in occupational therapy (or higher) and graduation from a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program Registered with the American Occupational Therapy Association and/or certified with the National Board of Occupational Therapy Hold a valid OTA license from the California Board of Occupational Therapy Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
