Position Title: Occupational Therapy Assistant

Reports to : Occupational Therapist

FLSA Status : Exempt

Position Description: Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist (OT), the Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA), will be responsible for providing therapy in identified areas of need related to occupational performance at school.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide occupational therapy treatment and implement programs as designed by the occupational therapist.
• Monitor students' adaptive equipment, make recommendations to the therapist, and assist in adapting, fabricating, and maintaining equipment
• Document student progress and maintain appropriate data/records pertaining to therapy services.
• Track student’s record to determine when reviews are scheduled.
• Assist OTs during assessments with documentation and performing clerical duties.
• Interact with parents and school personnel, and contribute information in meetings, conferences, or informal interactions.
• Organize and prioritize work.
• Abide by federal and state mandates as well as local policies as they relate to school-based occupational therapy services.
• Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Maintain cooperative work relationships.
• Demonstrate flexibility and react with sensitivity to changing situations and needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the therapist.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in occupational therapy (or higher) and graduation from a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Registered with the American Occupational Therapy Association and/or certified with the National Board of Occupational Therapy
• Hold a valid OTA license from the California Board of Occupational Therapy
