This role focuses on designing and supporting electrical systems for industrial chemical facilities, combining detailed engineering design with hands-on fieldwork. You will work across power distribution, schematics, wiring, and equipment layouts, while also supporting existing plant operations through troubleshooting, commissioning, and project support. Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for industrial chemical facilities, including power distribution, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and detailed installation designs.
• Develop and review electrical drawings, including one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, panel layouts, and cable schedules to ensure accuracy and constructability.
• Create new drawings and update existing documentation to reflect design changes, field modifications, and as-built conditions.
• Review specification sheets and technical documentation to ensure equipment and materials meet project requirements and industry standards.
• Size and select electrical equipment for small plant projects, including motors and other power delivery components, ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
• Review and interpret applicable electrical codes and standards for operational facilities, ensuring all designs and installations comply with regulatory requirements.
• Perform or support arc flash studies and high-voltage system evaluations to promote safe and reliable operation of electrical systems.
• Collaborate with project teams to keep designs within the defined project scope and prevent scope creep, while still meeting all technical and code requirements.
• Support facility design and layout efforts, including cable tray routing, grounding systems, lighting layouts, and heat trace design.
• Lead and direct contractors on various projects, providing clear technical guidance, reviewing work quality, and ensuring adherence to design and safety requirements.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems in the field, identifying root causes of issues and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Participate in commissioning activities, including testing, verification, and startup of electrical systems at plant and work sites.
• Provide technical support to project service teams, both on-site and remotely, to ensure successful execution of projects.
• Utilize AutoCAD Electrical and related design tools to produce and maintain high-quality electrical design documentation.
• Apply project management principles to plan, prioritize, and track electrical engineering tasks, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including operations, maintenance, and project personnel, to align design solutions with operational needs.
• Use Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and Outlook to prepare reports, calculations, correspondence, and project documentation.
• Travel to various sites as needed to support ongoing projects, perform field assessments, and coordinate with site personnel.

• Minimum of 4+ years of industrial electrical engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) from an accredited university.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design fundamentals, including power distribution and circuit design.
• Engineering and design experience with power delivery systems for chemical and/or industrial sectors, including grounding, lighting, wiring, schematics, panel layouts, heat trace, cable schedules, and cable tray systems.
• Hands-on experience working on electrical systems of at least 220V.
• Proficiency in electrical design using tools such as AutoCAD Electrical for schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.
• Experience with arc flash studies and high-voltage electrical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and resolve issues in operational facilities.
• Experience with facility design, facility layout, and facility management in an industrial environment.
• Comfort working within defined project scope, maintaining design discipline, and preventing scope creep while meeting all applicable codes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 496, 497, 655, 70, 70E, and IECC standards.
• Ability to lead and direct contractors on various projects, providing technical oversight and guidance.
• Knowledge of ETAP or similar electrical analysis tools, including experience with different types of motors and their horsepower ratings.
• Experience with automation, power distribution, project management, and high-voltage electrical systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with project teams and documenting engineering work.

• Experience supporting existing chemical plant operations, including reviewing and updating drawings, specifications, and code compliance.
• Background in troubleshooting, commissioning, and providing field support for electrical systems in industrial environments.
• Familiarity with wiring diagrams, wiring schematics, and detailed installation design for complex industrial systems.
• Exposure to facility management activities related to electrical infrastructure in chemical or industrial plants.
• Ability to work effectively in a small, close-knit team where individual contributions are visible and impactful.
• Adaptability to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities rather than a single repetitive function.
• Interest in continuous learning and expanding expertise across different processes and technologies.
• Organizational skills to balance office-based engineering tasks with fieldwork and travel requirements.

This role follows a regular Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position combines both office and field responsibilities, with approximately 60% of your time spent on-site at plants and work sites and about 40% dedicated to office-based engineering tasks. Field activities include troubleshooting, commissioning, and providing direct support to project service teams in active industrial and chemical facility environments. You will work with tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, Microsoft Office applications, and various electrical testing and commissioning equipment. The role involves approximately 25% travel to sites across the country to provide technical support and ensure successful project execution. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $102000.00/yr.
