Deputy Project Manager

Full‑Time Deputy Project Manager Locations: Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; Exton, PA; or Tampa, FL. The successful candidate will have experience managing a variety of projects and will provide direction on repairs, modifications, light construction, and technical direction on building/facilities projects. The role involves oversight of small to medium, multi‑discipline projects from assignment to completion, close‑out, and turnover to the client. Projects generally last from a few days to a few weeks. The candidate must handle multiple ongoing projects simultaneously, including client/site communications, subcontractor cost solicitation and direction, scope of work review, project execution, deliverable collection and review, and pricing review. Responsibilities Support the review of scopes of work requests from client, subcontractor bid reviews and analysis, and preparation of proposals and cost estimates. Manage projects of varying sizes upon award of task orders. Coordinate subcontractors, including preparation of quotes and requisition requests. Monitor budgets and schedules, ensuring adherence to cost and delivery contractual commitments. Monitor projects and document tasks and delivery, based on weekly reports of overall project status. Maintain a weekly project/task log in a templated, professional format. Record and document significant verbal, telephone, and media messaging. Control quality, documenting and resolving poor‑quality work, repair, installation, or material selection by general contractors, trade disciplines, and suppliers. Manage change orders, with detailed knowledge of change and contractual requirements. Ensure job safety, monitoring, and compliance with WSP and USPS’s safety, health and environmental (SH&E) requirements. Interface with client contacts as required or defined for the program. Prepare and submit project deliverable packages. Travel less than 10% overnight. Implement standards in compliance with USPS/WSP program requirements, seeking guidance from senior program or project managers. Possess knowledge of repair, maintenance and/or construction processes. Demonstrate project management skills in managing integration, coordination of project elements, scope, time, cost, quality assurance, change management, and communication. Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within approved budget, and in accordance with applicable quality standards and contract requirements. Maintain clear, precise record keeping that meets contract and regulatory requirements. Comply with all USPS/WSP applicable environmental, health and safety requirements. Work includes post offices, mail processing facilities, and maintenance facilities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or relevant experience. Minimum 5 years of experience and demonstrated success with repair services, maintenance, construction management or related disciplines. Prior relevant project management experience, strongly preferred. Experience working with outside third‑party vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Experience working with direct and indirect resources, minimum 3 years acting in a repair/maintenance, construction management capacity or supervisory role on light industrial or commercial projects. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and MS Project. Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Resourceful, well‑organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail‑oriented. Experience working with technical disciplines. Knowledge of environmental, safety and health regulatory compliance and negotiation/construction management skills. Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, floor plans, shop drawings, specifications and schedules related to architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC equipment and building structures. Physical Demands Ability to work in varying environments (office and field settings). Willingness to work occasional off hours (evenings and weekends) if required. Ability to travel if required, with potential for overnight stays and flexible hours. Must pass drug test, background check and company motor vehicle record check. Compensation Expected salary (all locations): $94,300 – $147,000. Expected salary (Colorado only): $100,800 – $147,000.
