Job Description

This role focuses on commercial HVAC installation work, including duct systems, air handlers, chillers, rooftop units, and other related equipment on commercial job sites. You will work as part of a designated installation team, perform complex installations such as VRF systems, and support project managers and foremen with planning, materials, and manpower needs. As a senior mechanic, you will also train and guide other installers, ensure high-quality workmanship, and uphold strong professional and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of commercial HVAC installation tasks on assigned job sites, including duct systems, air handlers, chillers, rooftop units, and related equipment.
• Work within a designated commercial installation team to complete projects safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans and specifications.
• Install copper refrigerant lines for VRF units, including brazing, soldering, performing pressure checks, executing proper evacuation procedures, and calculating refrigerant charges accurately.
• Install complete duct systems from equipment through final GRDs, including low and medium pressure metal ducting, fiber duct, spiral duct, and various forms of Category I–IV venting.
• Perform airflow calculations for equipment, ductwork, and GRDs to ensure proper system performance and balance.
• Conduct duct and piping material takeoffs as required to support accurate ordering and project planning.
• Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings to ensure correct layout, routing, and installation of HVAC systems.
• Assist foremen and project managers with manpower planning, material needs, and forecasting requirements for assigned projects.
• Utilize detailed plans provided by project managers and estimators to complete individual installs and system changeouts on time and within scope.
• Provide direction, guidance, and on-the-job training to fellow employees and less experienced installers as needed.
• Oversee individual installs and system changeouts, ensuring work meets quality, safety, and performance standards.
• Maintain clear and timely communication between project managers and any sub-contractors to coordinate work and resolve issues.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for installation, fit-outs, rough-ins, and repairs.
• Perform basic repairs and adjustments on HVAC systems as needed to support project completion and system functionality.
• Set a positive example in attendance, work performance, safety practices, and adherence to core values.
• Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business interactions and on all job sites.
• Support and promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement within the installation team.

Essential Skills

• Five or more years of experience in the commercial HVAC industry, with a focus on installation.
• Strong operating knowledge of HVAC systems, including commercial duct systems, air handlers, chillers, rooftop units, and VRF systems.
• Proficiency in installing copper refrigerant lines, including brazing, soldering, pressure testing, evacuation procedures, and refrigerant fill calculations.
• Ability to perform all trade-related math calculations required for proper installation and system performance, including airflow and load-related calculations.
• Proficiency in installing low and medium pressure metal ducting, fiber duct, spiral duct, and Category I–IV venting systems.
• Ability to perform duct and piping material takeoffs to support project planning and procurement.
• Demonstrated skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings for HVAC installations.
• Operating knowledge and efficient use of hand tools and power tools used in HVAC construction and sheet metal work.
• Experience with HVAC sheet metal installation, sheet metal fabrication, and duct installation in commercial construction environments.
• Increased abilities in understanding installation and operating control systems associated with HVAC equipment.
• EPA certification.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining high quality standards.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with project managers, foremen, sub-contractors, and team members.
• Leadership capability to oversee individual installs, guide fellow employees, and support training efforts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in commercial construction environments, including fit-outs, rough-ins, and mechanical installations.
• Ventilation systems, HVAC system repair, and air conditioning systems.
• Experience working in or with a sheet metal duct fabrication shop or similar production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and maintain productivity in a fast-paced production or construction setting.
• Proven ability to uphold and promote core values such as teamwork, trust, perseverance, and growth.
• Comfort working with detailed plans and instructions provided by project managers and estimators.
• Ability to provide informal training and mentorship to less experienced installers.

This is a Permanent position based out of Harleysville, PA.

The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $83200.00/yr.
