Inpatient care is conducted at 2 Family Birth and Newborn Centers, Cedar Crest (Allentown) and Muhlenberg (Bethlehem) hospital sites, and 2 primary surgical locations at Muhlenberg and 17th Street (Allentown) campuses.Join a team of general ob/gyn physicians, midwives, ob/gyn hospitalists, and maternal-fetal medicine specialists at our largest network maternity hospital. This campus supports over 3000 births annually and serves as a referral hospital for our 4 other network maternity hospitals and for other regional facilities outside our network. Our hospitalists serve as the primary teaching faculty for the ob/gyn residents and medical students, and they work closely with our maternal fetal medicine physicians for management of high-risk patients. Newborn services include a Level IV NICU and access to our Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital pediatricians, including medical and surgical specialists. Limited hospital-based gynecology care may also be performed. Opportunities exist for participation in education, clinical research, quality and patient safety, and healthcare administration.In an obstetrics and gynecology career with LVHN, you will experience:Over 30 service sites for obstetrics and gynecology in 11 counties serving women’s preventive, gynecologic and obstetrics needs.Five Family Birth and Newborn Centers throughout the region provide maternity care.Additional locations that provide gynecologic surgical care for women using traditional and advanced minimally invasive techniques.Multiple locations that give physicians and APCs the option to choose the setting in which they practice.Intimate and familiar patient settings or busy bustling practicesCommunity-based programs or academic tertiary referral hospitalsCollaborate with a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurse midwives dedicated to providing exceptional care.Ability to teach and train students and residents at some locations.Position Overview:Gynecologic surgeryAlong with the Ob/Gyn Generalist team and other MIGS focused generalists, responsible for providing gynecologic surgical services at all LVHN facilities (including Lehigh, Pocono, Schuylkill, and Hazleton)Gynecology-only office practicePerioperative care, preventative gynecologic care and gynecologic problem visits- routine and complex problemsCore GYN inpatient coverageAlong with the Ob/Gyn Generalist team, this position is responsible for inpatient Gyn coverage and for back-up obstetric coverage to L&D units at LVHN hospitals.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide medical and surgical management for complex benign gynecological disorders such as endometriosis, fibroids, and pelvic pain.Perform minimally invasive surgeries, including laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and robotic surgery, with a focus on advanced techniques.Contribute to academic activities, including didactic lectures, curriculum development, and simulation training for residents and medical students.Participate in potential surgical leadership and mentorship opportunities and support the growth and expansion of the MIGS division.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons from specialties such as general surgery, colorectal surgery, urology, and plastic surgery, utilizing minimally invasive techniques to achieve optimal outcomes.QualificationsBoard-certified ob/gynExperience as an attending ob/gyn physician for at least 10 years preferredDemonstration of MIGS aptitude with completion of at least one of the following:Successful completion of an AAGL-recognized fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery / Complex Benign GynecologyDesignation by ABOG as a MIGS-focused practiceMaintenance of privileges for GYN surgery, including advanced robotic and/or laparoscopic procedures for 5+ years within the past year.A case log with the applicant’s last 24-months of cases should be submitted with application. At least 100 minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries yearly should be included.
