Water/Wastewater Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. This role will involve managing projects across water treatment, wastewater treatment, network upgrades, pumping stations, pipelines, and associated civil, mechanical, and electrical works. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality and technical standards.


Key responsibilities will include developing project execution plans, programmes, budgets, risk registers, and procurement strategies; coordinating design, construction, commissioning, and handover activities; and managing contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. You will monitor progress and performance, identify and resolve issues, manage changes and commercial risks, and provide accurate reporting to senior management and clients. The role will also require you to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental requirements, planning conditions, quality procedures, and relevant water industry standards. Building effective relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, delivery partners, and local communities will be an important part of the position.


Applicants should have proven project management experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering, or related infrastructure sectors, with a strong understanding of project controls, construction methodologies, contract administration, and commissioning processes. A relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, construction, project management, or a related discipline is desirable, along with experience working under recognised forms of contract such as NEC or equivalent. Strong commercial awareness, organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. You will be an effective communicator and confident leader, capable of motivating multidisciplinary teams and making sound decisions in a changing project environment. A formal project management qualification or professional membership would be advantageous.
