This unit consists of 36 private rooms. It serves a patient population aged from young adults to geriatrics. Priority admission is given to patients requiring medical-level cardiac care. The unit focuses on patients recovering from cardiac interventions. Interventions include cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implantation. The unit also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients. Patient ratios are 1:5-6 during shifts. Nights are typically 3, 12-hour shifts. The daily census averages 36 patients. This location offers interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Nursing skills include managing cardiac telemetry, access/management of ports, and administration of blood products. Additional skills required include interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV management, and care for tracheostomy patients. Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced environment focused on comprehensive cardiac care.
