Brief Job Description The Lead Behavior Analyst provides advanced clinical and supervisory services, working independently with extensive latitude for initiative and judgment. The role includes training, supervising, and evaluating staff pursuing Texas licensure as behavior analysts, and may involve directing department business functions and overseeing technical consultation for residents with complex high‑risk behaviors. Essential Job Functions Attend work on a regular basis and comply with agency leave policy, including rotating or extended shifts, overtime, and potential on‑call status as required. Provide clinical supervision, feedback, and evaluation of trainees’ work and skill development to meet the requirements of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and the Texas Regulatory Board. Provide or monitor the clinical supervision for the 1,500 hours of clinical training necessary to become a Board‑Certified Behavior Analyst for assigned staff. Offer advanced technical assistance and training to staff on the treatment of individuals with complex behavioral, psychiatric, cognitive, developmental, or physical and health‑related needs, and assist Behavior Analyst I’s with complex behavioral assessments and treatment. Design and monitor accountability systems for restraint reduction, psychotropic medication reduction, and effective positive interventions, including treatment and data fidelity. Evaluate the development and implementation of behavior support plans and review the analysis of trends and patterns of problem behaviors, use of restrictive and emergency procedures, and treatment results performed by others. Plan, assign, and supervise the work of Behavior Analyst I’s and other assigned staff to ensure continued professional growth and a positive impact on service delivery to residents. Chair the Behavior Support Committee and act as Director of Behavioral Health Services in the Director’s absence, providing after‑hours on‑call support as requested. When required by facility needs, manage departmental business functions such as budgeting, scheduling, remedial planning, coordination with other departments, attending administrative meetings, and supervising departmental staff, including health assistants, behavioral coaches, and clerical staff. Participate in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation as needed, which may involve alternate shift patterns or locations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments and functional (analogue) behavior analysis to develop behavior support plans. Apply knowledge and skills in applied behavior analysis and behavior support plan development, implementation, and evaluation. Understand medications used for behavior management and systems to track treatment effectiveness. Evaluate behavioral and program data to make clinical recommendations based on those data. Train staff in programming and related behavioral areas, and supervise behavior and programming staff professionally. Work with minimal supervision, exercising initiative and independent judgment. Administer all aspects of the delivery of behavioral services to persons with intellectual disabilities. Know the etiology and characteristics of intellectual disability and the applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including the Behavior Analysts Certification Board requirements and departmental and agency policy. Develop advanced technical reports, grants, research proposals, and other relevant documents. Motivate staff and effectively implement organizational changes. Use personal computers and relevant software competently. Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications Must be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or a certified Qualified Behavior Analyst (QBA) and eligible to be licensed as a Behavior Analyst in Texas. Licensure through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation is preferred. Initial Screening Criteria Master’s degree from an accredited university in behavior analysis, education, psychology, or a related discipline. Minimum of one year of work experience as a Behavior Analyst following certification. Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and high‑risk challenging behavior is preferred. Experience leading, managing, or directing the work of others is preferred.
