HR Manager - AEC & ConstructionPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead and grow the human resources function for our engineering, AEC, and construction operations. The HR Manager will serve as a strategic partner to leadership, supporting business objectives through talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, and learning and development. This role requires practical experience with HR best practices in technical and field environments, strong compliance knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and site teams to attract, retain, and develop top talent.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement HR strategies and programs aligned with business goals across engineering, AEC, and construction teams.Manage full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for technical and field roles, including engineers, project managers, and construction personnel; partner with hiring managers to define requirements and source specialized talent.Oversee employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, performance management, promotion, succession planning, and offboarding.Provide coaching and guidance to managers and supervisors on performance issues, disciplinary actions, workforce planning, and team development.Design and deliver training, professional development, and safety-related learning initiatives tailored to engineering and construction environments.Administer compensation, benefits, and rewards programs; conduct market benchmarking and support salary planning.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, industry regulations, and site safety requirements; maintain up-to-date HR policies and procedures.Investigate and resolve employee relations issues, mediate conflicts, and foster an inclusive, safety-conscious workplace culture.Manage HR systems (HRIS/ATS), maintain accurate employee records, and produce regular HR metrics and reports to inform leadership decisions.Lead change management efforts related to organizational restructuring, new policies, or growth initiatives; support cross-functional collaboration between corporate and field teams.QualificationsBachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated success supporting engineering, AEC, or construction organizations.Proven experience managing recruitment for technical and field roles (engineers, project managers, construction staff) and partnering with hiring managers.Strong knowledge of employment law, OSHA and site safety considerations, workers compensation, and regulatory compliance in construction environments.Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems, and comfort using HR metrics and reporting to drive decisions.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; ability to influence leaders and build credibility with engineering and site teams.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR programs that support retention, development, and performance in fast-paced project-driven environments.Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities across corporate and field locations; valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.BenefitsHealth/Dental/VisionLong-term disabilityShort-term disabilityTerm life401kHolidays Off, PTO, and sick leave
