Tool Maker

The Tool Maker fabricates, maintains and repairs progressive and transfer stamping dies, injection mold tooling and other support equipment with minimal supervision using manual machines in the Tool Room. Other tasks are assigned as necessary to ensure production requirements are met. Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining a safe and healthy work practice by observing safety procedures and practices. The role involves maintaining all dies, support equipment, injection mold tooling through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting problems. Fabricating details using blueprints, sketches, and oral instructions with manual machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders. Effectively reading detailed blueprints and fabricating parts to specified tolerances using a variety of materials and processes. Documenting all changes made to tools, troubleshooting tooling defects, and eliminating all possible causes for production downtime. Executing engineering changes and improvements in the tools for customer complaints. Following the work order system, including capturing and printing work orders, and performing order filling and posting progress daily. Being a team-oriented player and working well with others. Having a basic set of precision/hand tools. Reporting on the performance of the quality management system and on opportunities for improvement to management. Promoting customer focus throughout the organization and in particular, your area of responsibility. Ensuring the integrity of the quality management system is maintained when changes are planned and implemented. Supporting all EHS activities and strictly adhering to all work instructions and safety procedures. Immediately reporting any unsafe or unhealthy working conditions to your supervisor/leadership.

Physical demands and work environment include standing or walking on concrete for long periods of time and lifting up to 50 pounds. This role is required to be on-site 5-6 days at the Hamilton, IN location.
