Structural Design Engineer - Frame & Chassis

Role summary / purpose

Engineer to design, develop, and validate structural components for passenger trucks and vehicles. Looking for innovative problem solvers with ability to manage complex systems and components design for efficiency and validate using engineering tools and knowledge. Talent to be able to understand and develop complex systems and balance deliverables to make most cost/weight effective and functional proposals for underbody components. Will be working on frame-mounted structural sheet metal body isolators and tuned mass dampers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and Release Engineering for Frame Mounts, Spare Tire Winches, and/or Tow Hooks responsible for forward model development, release, and through launch.
• Absolute focus on delivery of robust designs and failure mode avoidance by applying engineering disciplines including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Perfect Drawing Plan, and Engineering Specifications.
• Responsible for overall design leadership to meet vehicle attributes including package, crash, durability, commercial upfitting, and thermal management.
• Responsible to lead review and approve Frame Structure designs to ensure delivery to component ES and vehicle requirements.
• Responsible to resolve all durability, assembly, and functional issues identified.
• Coach, technical mentor, and guide peer engineers with regular information exchange through Technical Club forums.
• Deliver focused Material Cost Reduction, Warranty reduction, and benchmarking.

Requirements - education & experience

• BS Mechanical Engineering
• 3 years experience in frames or structures Design and Release

Required skills

• CAD capable in CATIA 3DX
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• Ability to lead a team and work with cross-functional groups
