Payroll, Compensation, and People Analytics Specialist

Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking a Payroll, Compensation, and People Analytics Specialist on behalf of our client, a manufacturing company specializing in roof windows, skylights, and related accessories. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating payroll and compensation processes while leveraging people analytics to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. The position ensures accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while also supporting compensation planning, market benchmarking, and workforce analytics initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Administration

• Process and audit biweekly and semi-monthly payrolls for all U.S. entities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  
  
• Maintain accurate payroll records including earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposit information.
  
  
• Manage employee timekeeping systems and processes across all U.S. operations.
  
  
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and timekeeping.
  
  
• Process bonuses, off-cycle payments, and special payroll adjustments.
  
  
• Support year-end payroll activities including W-2 preparation, ACA forms, and tax filings.
  
  
• Monitor changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  
  
• Support the administration of the company's 401(k) plan including enrollments, deferrals, and plan compliance.
  
  
• Maintain HRIS modules related to payroll and timekeeping within Workday.
  
  
• Conduct payroll-related audits including workers' compensation renewal, 401(k) audits, and internal compliance reviews.
  
  
• Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of earnings, deductions, and tax codes within Workday.
  
  
• Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for payroll and compensation system updates.
  
  
• Partner with the Finance team to resolve payroll reconciliation issues.
  
  

Compensation Coordination

• Assist in the administration of salary structures, job classifications, and compensation programs.
  
  
• Serve as a subject matter expert for U.S. compensation programs.
  
  
• Process and approve compensation changes related to promotions, job changes, and performance adjustments.
  
  
• Maintain accurate job architecture for U.S. positions.
  
  
• Conduct market research, salary benchmarking, and compensation surveys.
  
  
• Support the annual compensation planning and budgeting process.
  
  
• Ensure compliance with internal compensation policies and external regulations.
  
  

People Analytics

• Collect, analyze, and interpret HR data to generate insights on workforce trends, turnover, compensation equity, and headcount.
  
  
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to support strategic HR decisions.
  
  
• Partner with HR leadership to define key workforce metrics and KPIs.
  
  
• Maintain data integrity across HR systems and support reporting, compliance, and audit requests.
  
  
• Provide ad hoc analysis and reports to support leadership and business needs.
  
  

Additional Responsibilities

• Serve as a fiduciary member of the 401(k) Advisory Committee.
  
  
• Participate in the Insurance Committee to support benefits oversight.
  
  
• Review, approve, and audit departmental expenses.
  
  
• Assist with departmental budgeting processes.
  
  
• Manage benefits-related invoice payments and reconciliation with external vendors.
  
  
• Serve as backup support for benefits-related inquiries.
  
  
• Assist employees and management with People & Organization related questions.
  
  
• Participate in HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
  
  

Requirements include:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field required.
  
  

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll, accounting, or compensation roles.
  
  
• At least 5 years of experience managing multi-state payroll processes.
  
  
• Experience working with integrated HRIS systems, preferably Workday.
  
  

Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and lookup functions.
  
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
  
• Ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  
  
• Excellent communication, grammar, and organizational skills.
  
  
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  
  
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  
  

Certifications:

• Payroll or HR-related certifications (such as CPP or SHRM) are a plus but not required.
  
  

Knowledge:

• Multi-state payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
  
  
• Compensation program administration and salary benchmarking practices.
  
  
• HRIS systems (Workday preferred).
  
  
• ERP/MRP systems (SAP experience preferred).
  
  
• Workforce analytics and HR reporting best practices.
