Job Description
Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit

Schedule

Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period (combination of Fri/Sat/Sun). Holidays & charge shifts: Assigned as needed. On-call: Not required. Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required.

Assignment Details

Unit size: 24-bed intermediate/PCU stepdown unit.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of telemetry experience required.
• Licensure: Must have appropriate state licensure or compact license at time of submission.
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS.
• Core clinical skills include cardiac telemetry monitoring, IV management, wound care, and emergency response skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and support for intermediate medical and surgical overflow patients.
• Monitor patient telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to emergencies.
• Manage IV lines, including starting IVs and administering blood products.
• Perform wound care including use of Wound VAC and manage feeding tubes.
• Administer oxygen and manage insulin protocols for diabetic patients.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Compliance / Notes

Documentation deadline: All documents due 2 Fridays before start date. Pre-start modules: 10-15 hours; due 1 week before start. Labs must be completed within 48-72 hours of signing. Additional compliance details apply.
